Happy Friday Carson City! Today starts the sunny weekend ahead, with a high of 67 and cloudless skies.
On the books today is the Loud as Folk concert at the Brewery Arts Center, a tour of the Carson River, a morning walk of the newly opened Linear Ditch Trail, Moon Lectures, and more!
— The Carson Water Subconservancy District is offering a two-day bus tour of the Carson River Watershed. 8 a.m. The Carson River Watershed “Get on the Bus” Tour will cover a variety of watershed topics and locations from the headwaters in Alpine County, Calif., to a tour of the Lahontan Dam and Gate House near Fallon.
The tour is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 11-12. Among the expected stops are legacy mining issues near Heenan Lake in Alpine County, Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, alluvial fan flooding in Carson Valley, East Silver Saddle Ranch Open Space, Lahontan Dam, river stabilization near Fort Churchill State Park in Lyon County, and the water filtration plant in Virginia City. Refreshments and lunch will be provided each day. Videos and on bus presentations will keep travelers informed en route between stops. The two-day tour cost is $150. —Friday Morning Walk to Linear Ditch Trail, East hosted by Muscle Powered.
Come and join us for our weekly one hour walks to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City! Meet at Moffat Open Space parking area on Hells Bells Road and Parkhill Drive. Water and closed-toe shoes required.
All walks are 1 to 2 miles with duration of 1 hour with usually negligible elevation gain, and frequently on paved or smooth paths. —Northern Nevada science and history lecturer Mike Thomas will discuss the USS Panay and the moon during October presentations scheduled for Western Nevada College’s Jack C. Davis Observatory at 6:30 pm.

—Reno’s "Loud as Folk" is a monthly music showcase featuring local songwriters and musicians. The "Runnin out of Daylight Tour" will have Carson City's Brewery Arts Center as one of its tour stops, which includes Nevada, California, Oregon, and Washington.
The concert on October 12 starting at 7 pm, features local Reno musicians Spike McGuire, the founder of Loud as Folk, and Gardnerville native Buffalo Moses, also known as Bryan Jones, who is known for his band Buster Blue, which rose to fame before disbanding in 2013.

—Seeliger Elementary School in Carson City will celebrate its 26th Annual Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This year’s event will feature an amazing array of raffle prizes, dunk tank, craft fair, silent auction, cake walk, carnival games, Bouncy Castles, prizes, food, bake sale, Nevada-grown pumpkins, wagon rides, juggling demonstrations and lots of family fun. —Dave Mencarelli will be headlining the Carson Comedy Club Oct 12-13. The Carson Comedy Club is located inside the Carson Nugget at 507 N. Carson Street. — Donations Sought: Pet food drive underway at Carson City's Michael Hohl Motor Company. All day through October. Michael Hohl Motor Company of Carson City has launched its fourth annual ‘Give A Dog A Bone’ pet food drive to fill a pickup for the nonprofit organization Pets of the Homeless. The national nonprofit organization based in Carson City provides pet food and basic emergency veterinary care to the homeless pets in local communities across the United States including the capital city. During the month of October bring your donations of dog and cat food to the Michael Hohl Motor Company GM showroom at 3700 S. Carson St. Carson City and help fill the truck. The donations will be delivered to FISH in North Carson City where over 230 local people are asking for pet food each month.

— Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California Native TANF Program launch Winter Coat Drive. The Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California Native TANF Program is hosting a winter coat drive Oct. 1 through Nov. 2, 2018. Please donate new or gently used, clean coats, hats, gloves and snow pants. Items will be distributed to families in need on Nov. 8, 2018 at 2310 South Carson St. Suite 1 Carson City or the Douglas County Washoe Tribe of NV & CA Native TANF Program office, 1248 Waterloo Ln, Gardnerville.
— The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, Americana with Cadmium Orange, by artist Gig Depio at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Depio is an artist and an advocate for public art in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was awarded the 2016 Fellowship Grant in Painting by the Nevada Arts Council (NAC). He has worked on various exhibitions and projects with the Nevada Museum of Art, Nevada Arts Council’s OXS Gallery, and UNLV Marjorie Barrick Museum, among others. — Student Art Exhibition: The Wind Calls, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) announces it’s exhibition, The Wind Calls featuring nine University of Nevada, Reno, students’ work. The free exhibition is available to the public through October 9, 2018, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – noon and 1:00 – 4:00 pm. It is held at the BRIC, 108 E Proctor St., Carson City. The Wind Calls includes work by Mahedi Anjuman, Nicki Bracco, Mark Combs, Teal Francis, Hannah Huntley, Gwaylon Leaf, Frances Melhop, Ally Messer, and Carla Miller. The artists used a wide variety of art media including mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, painting, printmaking, and photography to make their art and comments on contemporary life and society.
— The Capital City Arts Initiative, also known as CCAI, presents its exhibition, "Jenny Raven: The Creative Growth Years 1979 - 1984" with artwork by artist Jenny Raven in the city’s Community Center Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition is available to the public through October 18, 2018. The Sierra Room is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Nevada Artists Association opens Carson City Autumn art show. The Nevada Artists Association opened its annual "Autumn" exhibit will run through Oct. 19, 2018. More than 100 local and regional artists make up the non-profit NAA which operates the gallery located at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center. In addition to the Autumn Show, two association members will be featured, with art work displayed on the coveted back wall of the gallery, artist Cindy Whitaker and photographer Fred Howland will be exhibiting their finest.
