Agriculture and art meet to showcase the region’s artisans and ag students at the 3rd Annual Ag & Artisan Holiday Faire Saturday, Dec. 2, at the historic Storke Dairy, 876C Centerville Lane in Gardnerville, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event features exhibits and demonstrations from Douglas County 4-H, Grange and FFA students, an exhibit of antique farm implements found on the property during renovations and roping demonstrations. Santa makes an appearance between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for family selfies during the event.

A holiday tradition that spans generations, Carson High School will host its 28th annual Holiday Craft Fair this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17-18 on the CHS campus, 1111 N Saliman Rd, Carson City.

St. Mary's Art Center in Virginia City fills four floors with festivities and over 30 tables of one-of-a-kind creations by exceptional artists, writers, and makers.  Join us for this fun event in a beautiful historic building and support your local area artists, writers, and makers, just in time for unique and thoughtful gift giving.

VIRGINIA CITY — Dec. 4-5, 2021, St. Mary’s Art Center, historic landmark and former St. Mary Louise Hospital built in 1875, will host more than 22 artists and makers for a festive, vibrant and fun weekend of arts, crafts, refreshments, and holiday music.

Calling all vendors, we are back!

The Carson Mall has been approved to start doing our events again and our first event will be Nevada Day.

Sierra Lutheran High School will host the 3rd Annual Christ is Christmas Craft Fair Saturday, Nov. 7, on the SLHS campus from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The school will be strategically using outdoor and indoor space on its 34-acre campus to promote the kickoff to the Christmas shopping season within social distancing guidelines.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities over the next three days. The Carson City Wine Walk returns Saturday with COVID-19 restrictions. Virginia City will be filled with spooky events over the month of October with its signature Hauntober event. Patt Quinn-Davis, Carson High School Language Arts teacher and adviser of the school newspaper and Carneta yearbook, is retiring. For Quinn-Davis, the publications staff became a part of her family every year and even more so when students stayed with the program throughout their high school careers.

Editor’s Note: Bryant is a freshman Honors student at CHS, and the following is her response to the poem "A Builder or a Wrecker" by Charles Franklin Benvegar.

During this pandemic, I would love to think I am in fact a builder because I strive to see the best in this, because I have been helping those struggling immensely during these hard times, and because I am doing my best to help the medical professionals I know.

She was also editor of The Nevada Appeal and previously was editor of The Daily Democrat newspaper in Woodland, Calif.

He is the fearless leader of Carson High School, and he is taking his teachers through uncharted territory in order to guide them into successfully teaching and caring for their students during this time of uncertainty. His name is Gavin Ward, and he is doing a fantastic job as the Principal of CHS, being both available and supportive while encouraging teachers, students, and even parents to engage their students with much-needed health, hope and heterochromatic learning.

Lyon County Senior Centers in Dayton, Fernley, Silver Springs and Yerington announced Wednesday that they will be participating in the 18th annual March for Meals – a month-long, nationwide celebration of Meal on Wheels and our senior neighbors who rely on the vital service to remain healthy and independent at home. Lyon County Senior Centers celebrations will include various activities throughout the month of March.
