Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021 that there is an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. The agency is also reporting 16 new cases and 133 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region.

We are reporting 3 additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. We are also reporting 59 new cases and 52 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 9,842, with 5,109 recoveries and 152 deaths; 4,581 cases remain active.

Just after 11 a.m. Saturday morning first responders were called to a vehicle fire in the area of Spooner.

Douglas County called Carson City deputies stating that in the westbound lanes heading down the hill there was a vehicle, unknown if it was still moving, that was on fire.

The vehicle is fully engulfed according to dispatch. Whether it is blocking traffic is unknown

Motorists should avoid the area.

Since the week ending March 14, 2020, the first week Nevada saw claims increase due the pandemic, there have been a total of 794,227 initial claims filed.
