John P. Kallestad began shooting with his first camera, a Nikon F over 50 years ago.

In the early 1900’s he attended his first photo workshop in Bodie, California. From there, he continued to expand his knowledge and expertise in the use of the film camera, producing in excess of 15,000 slides over the next ten years from a base at Lake Tahoe.

As a colored pencil artist, Lorraine Foster specializes in photorealism in her work. She has won awards and has had the New Wave Sticker company use her drawings of big cats as stickers.

The Nevada Artists Association is proud to present the 2024 New Years Show through Feb. 9 2024 with 111 entries by 26 Nevada artists in all categories of media.

Rob's paintings largely follow religious and spiritual themes and daily life from Southeast Asia and incorporate traditional styles from that region. The event’s 25th anniversary will be dedicated to the memory of Jim McCormick, UNR Art Department chair, artist, curator and one of the founders of the show. Admission is free.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region packed with excitement over the next three days. Events include the Silver State Art Festival at Fuji Park, suicide awareness walks in Carson City, a Celtic faire at Dangberg Home Ranch, the ninth annual Edible Pedal bike ride at Bowers Mansion, train rides in Virginia City and much more!

Carson Mall will host its first Artists and Makers Fair this Saturday, Sept. 7. Come one and all for art showings and live demonstrations of artists work throughout the day at this all ages family event, which will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As summer winds down, fall events in Tahoe South are ramping up. And the secret’s out: Fall in Tahoe South is one of the most idyllic times to visit with mild weather, off-season lodging rates, more beach space and numerous events starting Labor Day Weekend.

Renowned American Artist, E. Louise Kerr, peacefully passed away in her Virginia City, Nevada home with her loved ones by her side. February 19, 1925 to November 13, 2018
