Nevada Humane Society offers pet adoptions at no cost for veterans on Nov. 11

Pets are available for adoption at either the Carson City shelter, at 549 Airport Road or the Reno shelter, 2825 Longley Lane.
CHS partners with History Channel in ‘Take a Vet to School’ Carson City event

Kutz for Heroes hosted by Twisted Scizzors in Carson City continues Sunday

The salon will provide free haircuts for veterans, activity duty and first responders, plus they can find help locating available services. Event runs through 3 p.m. today, Sunday, November 4.
Nevada State Museum in Carson City to commemorate 100th anniversary of end of World War I

Warm clothes and other items sought for homeless veterans in Carson City and Reno areas

Public Invited to Minden Veterans Appreciation Monument Dedication Oct. 6 at noon

(WAVE) is eager to have the public attend the dedication ceremony for the new Veterans Appreciation Monument Oct 6 at noon. The monument honors the service and sacrifice of living and deceased veterans in Douglas County. It has been erected in front of the old courthouse on Eighth St. in Minden. WAVE has been working for over a year with county commissioners, local businesses and a host of volunteers to create the monument.
Fall tea tickets available for Carson City Holiday with a Hero fundraiser

All proceeds from the tea will go toward providing a proper Christmas to children in need through the Holiday with a Hero program.

Irish Folk Singer Seamus Kennedy Plays Great Basin Brewery in Sparks

The event will begin at 6 p.m. for those wanting to order food from the brewery menu (corned beef and cabbage will be available) and then concert will start at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $25 for non members and $20 for SADOE members and food is not included. Tickets may be purchased online through BrownPaperTickets.com or in person at Brewery in Sparks. There will be up to a $2 service fee per ticket on any credit card transaction.
