Navy League to Celebrate Veteran's Day

The Carson City Council of the Navy League of the United States will honor Veterans, past and present, at our November Meeting! We will also pay tribute to our MIA’s and POW’s and celebrate both the Navy and Marine Corps birthdays. Our speaker for the Special Veteran’s Day celebration will be Katherine (Kat) Miller, Colonel, USA retired, who is Director of the Nevada Department of Veterans Services.

Obituary: Jon Elizabeth Bohm Frey

Jon Elizabeth Frey left us on October 13, 2017, after a brief illness. She was born to Caroline and John C. Bohm on March 9, 1967. She was a lifetime Carson City resident.

On October 18, 1987, she married David Frey. She was predeceased by her parents and husband. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Cathryne and Anthony Sainz; grandsons AJ and Robert; sisters, Christine and Margaret; and brother, Jimmy.

Our loving wife and mother passed away on September 21, 2017 in Carson City in the arms of her family.

Lucy was born on October 9, 1938 to John and Thelma Freeman in Francis, OK. She had 3 brothers and 1 sister; Jimmy, George, Johnny and Ramona. They moved from Oklahoma to Alta Loma, CA in 1945. Lucy graduated from Chaffey High in 1956.

Around two dozen runners and walkers remembered the victims of a mass shooting in Carson City that happened six years ago Wednesday in which five people died, including three Nevada National Guardsmen.
