Prepare for a pre-summer kickoff festival at Casino Fandango over Memorial Day weekend in Carson City with the second annual community Rockin’ Rib Fest, this Friday through Monday.

This deliciously action-packed holiday event is the only Memorial Day rib festival in the region and is the largest planned Memorial Day celebration in the community, organizers say.

Bowers Mansion Civil War Reenactment sure to be a blast this weekend

Bowers Mansion Regional Park will kick off its 2019 tour season with a Civil War reenactment this Saturday, May 18, followed by the first Programs on the Porch on May 24.

Hosted by Bowers Mansion Regional Park and Washoe County Parks and Open Space, the event is sure to be a blast, and not just because cannons were definitely a part of the civil war.

Nevada Letters About Literature student competition winners named; advance to national competition

Nevada Humanities has announced the winners of the statewide Letters About Literature program. 243 students from Nevada submitted entries to the national competition at the Library of Congress, and nine Nevada students placed in the top three of their respective judging categories and will be honored in a ceremony in Las Vegas on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. Sierra Nevada Ballet welcomes in the Spring Season with the annual production of Brew, Brats and Ballet-A Celebration of choreography on April 6 (7:30 PM) and April 7 (2:00 PM) at the Reno Little Theater and on April 13 (7:00 PM) at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

City staff then filled it with holiday goodies while the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada donated their creativity to make a banner and snowflakes! At today's Board of Supervisors meeting, Karen's last of 2018, the community, in unison, thanked and acknowledged her tireless efforts in creating a better cultural landscape for Carson City.
