Saturday – Monday: Take a ride on the Virginia and Truckee #25 Steam Engine at the Nevada State Train Museum. Rides begin approximately every 40 minutes, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Fares are $8 for ages 12 and over; $4 for ages 4 to 11 and Museum members; and FREE for ages 3 and under.

Downtown will be rocking tonight as the Carson High Class of 86 celebrates their reunion in Telegraph Square with two live bands. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun. Just down the street, Living the Good Life welcomes Southbound Train followed by DJ Bobby G. Fuji Park is the place to be for cowboys, broncs, and a great concert celebrating Carson City.

Carson City pays tribute to WNC Professor Marilee Swirczek and the final exhibit she created

A large crowd gathers Thursday for the final reception of the Always Lost: A Meditation on War exhibit at Western Nevada College in Carson City. The event was also held as a celebration of life for exhibit co-founder Marilee Swirczek, who died July 17.
The photo exhibit, which opened at WNC in 2009, memorializes the sacrifices of U.S. military veterans and their families.

Kiwanis of Carson City Tribute to Johnny Cash

The second annual Carson City Kiwanis Johnny Cash Tribute Concert is pulling into the station on August 13, 2016. Jimmie Ray and Cyndi Cantrell and the Black Train will be headlining at Piper’s Opera House for two shows on that day, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval today signed Executive Order 2016-19, ordering all flags at the State Capitol and State public buildings and grounds to be flown at half-staff effective immediately and until Tuesday, July 12, 2016 as a mark of respect and in remembrance of the victims in Dallas, Texas.

Dave Cook Memorial Scholarship established for Nevada resident, incoming college student

The $10,000 four-year Dave Cook Memorial Scholarship has been established by the Elaine P. Wynn and Family Foundation in partnership with the Nevada Public Education Foundation for an incoming freshman pursuing an Education degree at a Nevada System of Higher Education institution beginning in fall 2016.

Under rainy skies and the heaviness of a tragedy that wounded a community, law enforcement officers from around the state assembled at the state capitol grounds Thursday to pay tribute to Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Carl Howell, the 129th Nevada law officer to die in the line of duty.
