NHP Investigating Fatal Crash on S. Virginia Street at Tamarack Junction Casino

The preliminary investigation shows a white 2014 Triumph Daytona motorcycle was traveling southbound on S. Virginia Street approaching Tamarack Junction Casino.
Nevada State Museum continues 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint with weekend activities for kids

As part of its celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint — Mint 150 — the museum is hosting Kids Minting Days on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 8-9. Children 17 and younger are admitted for free and each child will receive a commemorative copper medallion memorializing the Mint’s 150th anniversary.

Carson-Douglas Rodeo fundraiser a big success

This dinner event, spearheaded by Jim Masterson, was held on Jan. 17 at the Lodge in Carson City. Many Elks volunteered for this sucessful event. $4,200 was raised to help the club youths with their travel expenses and equipment.

The CHS, NJROTC Orienteers competed in a weekend long orienteering festival in Anza Borrego State Park, Calif., Jan. 17-18. During the festival, team members competed in three different races over the two days.

Southern Nevada resident being tested for coronavirus; 1st potential Clark County case identified

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will be testing samples from the Southern Nevada resident who has been identified as a person under investigation. Currently, Nevada has no confirmed cases of novel coronavirus.

NHP: One dead in Dayton crash involving pedestrian who had been on an ATV

According to NHP a man was on an ATV and for an unknown reason he was dismounted from the ATV and struck by two vehicles. The drivers of the two vehicles pulled over. NHP is investigating that the ATV driver was initially hit earlier by a vehicle, that fled the scene and that the victim was hit again by the two other vehicles (which then stopped.) We will update as more information becomes available.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting a pedestrian fatality that happened Sunday night in the area of Highway 50 and Mark Twain Avenue in Dayton.
An NHP spokeswoman said the rider of an ATV had dismounted from the vehicle and was in a travel lane when he was struck by two vehicles.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, in the Sierra Room, located at 851 E. William St., Carson City.
