NHP identifies victim, investigates fatal crash Sunday in Dayton
On Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, at approximately 7:43 p.m., Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to a serious injury crash involving a pedestrian on US-50 and Mark Twain Avenue in Dayton.
The preliminary investigation shows a black 2013 Dodge Journey was traveling westbound on US-50 in the far right travel lane west of Mark Twain Avenue. John Elvis Jones, 63, of Dayton, dismounted his Bombardier ATV and left it unattended in the left turn lane west of Mark Twain Avenue.
For reasons unknown, Jones was occupying the far right travel lane and was struck by the Dodge Journey. Jones was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is seeking additional witnesses to this crash.
