Every week, I create a list of the fun stuff and events going on around the Carson City area for my Facebook page, I love Carson City. I follow the pages of local businesses and organizations, search website calendars, keep my ear to the ground, and compile a list of anything and everything going on in this community.
31st Holiday Treat Concert Dec. 14 at Carson City Community Center

The Carson City Symphony presents the 31st annual Holiday Treat concert on Sunday, December 14, 4 p.m., at the Bob Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street.
Carson City Symphony Strings in the Schools presents 'This is not a Christmas Concert'
Submitted by editor on Thu, 11/27/2014 - 10:10pmStrings in the Schools, Carson City Symphony's after-school program, presents its fifth annual "This is Not a Christmas Concert" on Tuesday, December 2, 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St., Carson City.
Nearly 100 string players, including Carson City public, private, and home-schooled students, and students from surrounding areas, will perform several pieces, from classics to folk and fiddle tunes, from Baroque music by Arcangelo Corelli to jazz tunes by Duke Ellington. Admission is free.
Sierra Nevada Ballet Presents the Peanutcracker Ballet
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Thu, 11/20/2014 - 5:04pmThe Sierra Nevada Ballet will present the popular “Peanutcracker – The Story in a Nut Shell” on Dec. 6 in the Bob Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Based on Lev Ivanov‘s original ballet “The Nutcracker,” Peanutcracker is a shorter, 45-minute narrated version that is “designed for families with younger children to introduce them to the wonderful world of ballet,” noted Rosine Bena, Artistic Director of the Sierra Nevada Ballet who wrote and choreographed this traditional holiday show.
Carson City Symphony's 'Strings in the Summer' concert July 31

The concert is free and is open to the public.

Women to Women Nevada repeat features education director of Carson City Symphony

Jesch has taught violin and viola and performed professionally for more than 30 years. She began playing in the Carson City Symphony when she moved to Nevada in 2004 and is currently Concertmaster and Education Director.

More than 100 string players, including Carson City public-, private-, and home-schooled students, and students from surrounding areas, will perform several pieces, from classics to folk and fiddle tunes, including Karl Jenkins' Palladio: Concerto Grosso for String Orchestra, Let's Boogey, and Flop Eared Mule. Admission is free.
Carson City Symphony's Holiday Treat concert celebrates 30 years Dec. 15

The Carson City Symphony presents the 30th annual Holiday Treat concert on Sunday, December 15, 4:00 p.m., at the Bob Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street.
The Symphony will be joined on the program by the Carson City Symphony Chorus, and Norma Conway's Victorian Dancers. Pre-concert entertainment begins at 3:00 p.m. in the lobby.
Women to Women Nevada with Sue Jesch

She has taught violin and viola and performed professionally for more than 30 years. She began playing in the Carson City Symphony when she moved to Nevada in 2004.
She became founding director of the Symphony’s successful Strings in the Schools and Strings in the Summer programs in 2005. She is recipient of the 2011 Nevada Governor’s Arts Award for Leadership in Arts Education.
Carson City after school string program offered through symphony

Strings in the Schools, directed by the Symphony's Education Director, Sue Jesch, provides free beginning violin lessons for students grades 2-5, a beginning cello program for selected 5th graders, and ensemble/orchestra experience for string students in all grades. Tuition and books are subsidized by the Carson City Symphony Association.
Carson City Library presents 'Making of a Cello' performance, talk July 11

Roop Street in Carson City.
The talk is appropriate for all ages, and admission is free.

Grounds open and pre-concert entertainment begins at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free.
Strings in Schools concert to feature music of Jay Ungar and Molly Mason

The concert will be at Empire Elementary School, 1260 Monte Rosa Drive, Carson City. It includes a workshop from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for string players of all ages, a potluck lunch, and a public concert beginning at 3:00 p.m. Admission to the festival and the concert is free, donations welcome.

Led by Symphony Education Director Sue Jesch and guest percussionists Liz White, Kevin Conlin, and Gerald Larson from the University of Nevada, Reno, the workshop is open to string players of all ages at no cost. STRAZZ: Youth Jazz on the Plaza

Costa on Mon, 08/08/2011 - 1:21amThe public gathered on the Legislative Plaza on Sunday afternoon to hear STRAZZ, the Strings in the Schools youth jazz ensemble, play a selection of jazz-style favorites. The free concert was sponsored by the Mile High Jazz Band, as a part of their Jazz! Carson City Jazz Festival. The festival runs throughout the month of August, with free events sprinkled throughout the calendar, as well as one paid event taking place at the Bliss Mansion.

The event, coordinated, by Starr Nixdorf is entitled "Fairies Dance." Strings in the Schools will be playing celtic tunes. The May Pole will be in the courtyard for various dancing designs.
