Strings in the Schools presents 'This is Not a Christmas Concert'

Strings in the Schools, Carson City Symphony's after school program, presents "This is Not A Christmas Concert" at the Plaza Conference Center, 211 E. 9th St. in Carson City at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9.
About 80 string players, including Carson City public, private and home schooled students and students from surrounding areas will perform several pieces from classics to folk and fiddle tunes. Admission is free. Call Sue Jesch at (775) 450-5584.

Strings in the Schools concert features Carson City violinists

Young violinists join concertmaster and instructor Sue Kitts of the Carson City Symphony on Thursday to present “Strings in the Schools” at Sierra Place, 1111 W. College Parkway in Carson City. The concert begins at 10 a.m. and features students in the Carson City School District who will perform violin music. Call (775) 841-4111.

Brewery Arts Center Presents Pianist Dr. Ron Williams

The Brewery Arts Center presents Dr. Ron Williams, pianist, in a program of Toccatas & Sonatas — from Bach to Ravel, on Thursday, June 17, 7:30 p.m. at the BAC Performance Hall, 511 W. King Street in Carson City. Admission free.

Carson City Symphony's 26th Pops Party Concert

The beautiful back lawn of the Governor's Mansion is the site of the Carson City Symphony's 26th annual "Pops Party" concert on Sunday, June 13. The program features the Carson City Symphony directed by David Bugli, Carson Chamber Singers directed by Judy Monson, Strings in the Schools youth orchestra directed by Sue Kitts, and guest vocalists Gary Aldrich and Olivia Hakel.

Carson City Contradance for Fun

Join Carson City Symphony's Strings in the Schools students in a public Contradance, 3 to 4 p.m., Saturday at Empire Elementary School, 1260 Monte Rosa Drive.
Learn the steps to the jig, reel, and waltz. Dance to live music with the students and leaders Sue Kitts, Chris Bayer, Steve Suwe, and Gary Lyon. Admission is free and all are welcome.
