Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by, including the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival, Carson City Library’s End of Summer Learning Challenge, history talks at Mormon Station Park, train rides in Virginia City, a sushi cooking class at Sierra Chef on Sunday and more!

UPDATE 10:36PM: NV Energy reports more than 1,550 customers were without power late Monday night throughout south Carson City. The utility says via its website that it should have power restored in most areas by 11:30 p.m. The brush fire at Silver Saddle Ranch has been extinguished.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Monday night to a brush fire in the Silver Saddle Ranch area in southeast Carson City.

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space will host a series of environmental education events free to the public at Silver Saddle Ranch. Learn about the topics below from a Park Ranger from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. No registration necessary and all ages welcome.

In this edition of It's Your City, host Cortney Bloomer sits down with David Bugli with the Mile High Jazz Band Association to talk about Carson City Jazz and Beyond 2019.

The Prison Hill Recreation Area is located in east Carson City, adjacent to Silver Saddle Ranch. As part of an effort to plan appropriate land uses and trail system connectivity on these 2,500 acres, the City would like the community’s input in developing a Master Plan for this area.

Heading into Thursday, June 27, 2019, there's plenty to do and see around the Carson City area as we march toward an action-packed weekend. There's a morning Muscle Powered walk, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, a Farmers Market in Dayton, a discussion on climate change at Western Nevada College, a history presentation on Chinese woodcutters at the Nevada State Museum, a presentation by the NNDA Executive Director at a GOP monthly meeting, Cruise Night at Wing Stop, an information meeting on the Ross Gold Park master plan hosted by Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space. With a windy cool down headed our way, activities around the Carson City area Wednesday, June 26 will make for a breezy good time. Looking at the day ahead there's a walk hosted by parks and recreation, kids events, Wheeled Food Wednesday at the Brewery Arts Center, a free "rough cut" feature film screening at the Carson Nugget, Young Chautauquans at Dangberg Historic Park and more.

As we set our radar ahead to Tuesday, June 25, 2019, we say hello Carson City and welcome to a bevy of events ahead including activities for children of all ages, a Muscle Powered morning walk, evening hike and bike ride, a cyber security awareness workshop hosted by DeBug Computer, a job fair at the Carson Nugget, art showings, a delicious taste of France via Bleu Café Culinary Travelers Club and more. Heading into the weekend, there's a bevy of events around the Carson City region that brings a cool breeze to the first three days of summer. The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.

Heading into Tuesday, June 18, 2019 we're looking at continued warming around the region with a daytime high around 91. Temperatures are expected to actually lower toward the end of the week. Events around town Tuesday include a Muscle Powered walk, hike and bike ride, yoga, exercises for the mind and body hosted by the Carson City Emblem Club, political gatherings, art activities and more.

Carson City University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, in partnership with Carson City Parks and Recreation and Friends of Silver Saddle Ranch, is offering two weekly sessions at Silver Saddle Ranch, 2648 Carson City Road in Carson City, for youth who are not able to keep or raise a small farm animal to experience working with either rabbits or goats. Area 4-H leaders will bring their animals for attendees, 9 – 14 years of age, to work with in these hands on day camps.

Good morning Carson City, and happy June! We have a ton of events going on today in our beloved capital city, with the June wine walk, the first day of the farmer’s market, a brew fest at Fuji park, and more! With a high of 75, it’s shaping up to finally start to feel like summer (knock on wood).

Heading into a jam-packed weekend of events around the Carson City region, there's a bevy of activities Friday to get your started. Lace up your shoes for a morning walk at Riverview Park, and then head on over to the Nevada State Museum for a coin press demonstration, and tours that explore anthropology and Nevada history. The Jazz and Beyond festival committee announces that the winner of the 2019 poster and program cover art contest is Reta Hanks, a member of the Nevada Artists Association, Capital City Arts Initiative and several other artists organizations in Nevada and California.

As we head into a jam-packed Memorial Day weekend, activities and events around Carson City on Friday will help set the mood for what promises to be a tremendous few days ahead. Festivities include the opening day of the Rockin’ Rib Fest at Carson City's Casino Fandango, the planting of American flags on the graves of our fallen veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery, a weekly open mic night at A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, live music and more.

Cool, showery weather, with periods of steadier precipitation, will continue into the Memorial Day weekend. However, snow levels are forecast to rise above 7,500 feet from Wednesday evening onward for diminishing snowfall impacts in the Sierra, according to the National Weather Service.
