Copyright attorney to speak about photo laws

Women's Self Defense Seminar

Senator Square: Gearing up for the Carson High School talent show

The annual talent show is coming up at Carson High School. The event will take place 7 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Carson Community Center. Auditions for the talent show will be on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2:05 p.m. in the upstairs cafeteria at CHS. Audition applications can be picked up from room No. 243 or the office. The CHS talent show is only open to ninth through 12th graders at CHS and cash prizes are awarded. The CHS chapter of FBLA is hosting this event. Head over to Mills Park for the Vietnam Veterans Day Celebration, complete with military vehicles, exhibits, and more. For demonstrations from soldiers with an even older history, the Nevada Civil War Volunteers will be in Dayton Saturday.

Carson ATA Martial Arts - Karate for Kids is providing a free community Kids’ Safety and Success seminar followed by a pizza party this Saturday, Feb. 7.

The event, starting at 10am at Carson ATA Martial Arts, will cover topics such as stranger and abduction safety, bullying prevention, and online and home safety. There will be a hands-on segment to teach safety and bulling prevention techniques. Participants will also work on goal setting for school, home and activities, responsibility for school work and chores, creating proactive habits and how to follow through on goals.

Safety seminar featured Sept. 27 as part of National Bullying Prevention Month

Carson ATA Karate for Kids is providing a free community Bullying Prevention and Stranger Safety seminar on Saturday, Sept. 27 to kick off National Bullying Prevention Month in October.

The event, starting at 11 a.m., begins with the reading of a proclamation by Carson City Supervisor Brad Bonkowski, proclaiming October as Carson City Bullying Prevention Month, followed by Sheriff Ken Furlong talking about bullying and stranger safety from a law enforcement perspective.

ALS Ice Bath Challenge, Bullying Prevention Seminar planned for Sept. 27

Jan Lopas, a Martial Arts coach, instructor, parent and student from Carson ATA Martial Arts, announced the school has joined the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Carson ATA Martial Arts chief instructors, Mr. Goodner and Mr. Stevens, are taking this Ice Bucket Challenge one step further. They intend to take an Ice BATH for 3 minutes in exchange for donations to the ALS Association.

I recently went to a special seminar on Social Security. The speaker was a retired manager with 35 years of experience working at the Social Security Administration. He went through the details of how the various benefits are computed, etc. but his observations were interesting.

Nevada Business Group on Health Hosts Benefit Plan Design Seminar on June 12

FREE Women's Self Defense Seminar

For her senior project Carson High School Senior Emily Eiswert will be holding a FREE self defense seminar on Saturday March 22, 2014 from 10 am to noon.

This class is open to women ages 10 and up. Girls between 10-17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian or have a signed release form on file at Carson ATA.
