CARSON CITY — Nevada has received nearly $22 million in rural transit relief funding following Congress’ passage of the CARES Act. This is in addition to transit funding dedicated to the state’s metropolitan transit services.
The Federal Transit Administration recently announced appropriations of $25 billion in national transit relief funding.

The State of Nevada is set to receive a total of $1.25 billion in support from the Coronavirus Relief Fund set up through the U.S. Department of Treasury. Congressman Mark Amodei, NV-02, made the announcement via a news release Monday.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue on Monday unveiled a one-stop-shop of federal programs that can be used by rural communities, organizations and individuals impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) show initial claims for unemployment insurance totaled 79,285 regular initial claims for the week ending March 4, up 7,343 claims, or 10.2 percent compared to last week’s total of 71,942.

This is the second highest weekly total in state history. Through week ending April 4, there have been 271,533 initial claims filed in 2020, this is 28,417 more than the state saw in the last two years combined.

Stimulus Program Information

The coronavirus relief bill passed March 27 by Congress provides payments to individuals who make less than $100,000 a year. The payment total $1,200 for each adult who makes $75,000 or less, plus $500 per child. The payment amounts decrease if you make between $75,000 and $99,000. The income is determined by your latest tax return filed with the IRS. It will use your 2019 taxes if you have filed them already, or your 2018 taxes if you haven't. CARSON CITY — With well over half of a million rides provided each year by Nevada’s rural transit operators, the Nevada Department of Transportation is inviting public input on an update to its State Management Plan which defines how federal transit funding is administered. This funding represents the majority of the budget transit operators use to provide much-needed transit services to rural areas of the state.

The University of Nevada, Reno Student Outreach Clinic will be hosting a Rural Outreach Clinic in Silver Springs this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Screenings and exams include blood pressure and hypertension checks, diabetes screenings, wellness exams, clinical evaluations, as well as child influenza vaccinations.
