For many, today is all about the big game. For others, it’s just about the commercials. For some, it’s no big deal at all. Either way, I’ve got you covered. You’ll find where to watch and where to bet on your favorites. Today is your last chance to audition for the upcoming production of ‘The Producers,’ so swing by the Brewery Arts Center if you’d like to be considered.

It’s hard to believe that it’s winter with these balmy temperatures. Take advantage of this beautiful day at the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk; grab a friend, a light jacket, and enjoy. See what the Wild Horse Children’s Theater’s elite performance troupe will be showcasing at an upcoming competition during a special presentation at the Carson Mall. If your bookshelves are looking a little bare, head to Dog Eared Books on Fairview where their fill-a-bag parking lot sale will have your reading list well supplied. SATURDAY:

The popular 4-H Fabric and Rummage sale returns to Carson City’s Fuji Park Exhibit Hall at 701 Old Clear Creek Road this weekend, Feb. 3-4.

On Saturday, Feb. 3, the sale is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Visit the sale days for great bargains; most fabric starts at a dollar per yard. Residents still have opportunities to donate unwanted, clean rummage items and fabric to 4-H.

Ready, set, crawl. The Brew Crew’s monthly pub crawl kicks off from the Laxalt Plaza next to the Nugget and includes up several downtown area taverns and restaurants. If your new year’s resolution includes volunteering, the Muscle Powered Trash Mob is a quick, but mighty, helping hand. Learn about the future of the Stewart Indian School Historic Site during an encore lecture at the Nevada State Museum. Flashback to Beatle-mania at the Brewery Arts Center or karaoke at Battleborn Social are just some of your nightlife options.

Some weekends are pretty cut and dry, just a few things to choose among. This, however, is not one of those weekends. High-flying, death-defying action takes over the Minden Airport as the Aviation Roundup Air Show takes to the skies. Pasta-lovers won’t want to miss the Eldorado Great Italian Festival in downtown Reno. Carson City’s monthly Downtown Wine Walk gets a dose of nostalgia as the Western Airstream Convention sets up shop and welcomes the curious.

Ten+ families are teaming up for a community rummage sale in the Southgate Apartments Community Center at 2100 California St., just off Fairview across from Q's BBQ. You'll find a mix of everything: jewelry, collectibles, furniture, Halloween decorations, and much more.

The sale runs Saturday, Oct. 7 through Monday, Oct. 9 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

With all the motorcycles on the road, you may be looking for some peace and quiet. Luckily, it’s fee-free day at all of the Nevada State Parks. Load up the kids, pack a picnic, at head to the great outdoors. Don’t miss out on the last-of-the-season Farmers Market at Third and Curry, stock up on local honey and load your basket with yummy stuff. Oktoberfest takes over the McFadden Plaza at 3 p.m. Bavarian and German beers, authentic food, and live music await. Keep reading for everything the area has to offer.

The Carson City Girls Scouts will host a rummage sale this Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with proceeds to benefit Girls Scouts affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

Clean out those closets and garages, bring them for a good cause and or stop by and pick up some bargains along the way. The sale is at 1745 Belmont Avenue in Carson City.

The Sierra-Tahoe Fleet Reserve Association #137 and Auxiliary is hosting it's annual rummage sale to raise money for Veterans! Members, families and friends have donated quality items..furniture, kitchenware, Christmas Decorations and we have added a (Man Cave) a true "Garage Sale" with power tools, woodworking equipment/tools and garden tools with everything in between.

Items are not priced, instead buyers are asked to donate the amount that the item is worth, taking into consideration that ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

The great thing about Labor Day weekend is that it just keeps going. The Best in the West Rib Cook-off offers up family fun, live music, and plenty of bar-be-qued delights all the way through Monday. For those with younger kids, consider a day at Mills Park. This is the last weekend for summertime train rides through the cottonwoods. Join Muscle Powered at Silver Saddle Ranch by the Carson River for a bike or hike this morning. Bring water and a camera, you never know what wildlife will make an appearance.

SUNDAY:

Summer is holding on for dear life, and sending a miniature heat wave our way for this long weekend. For those of you not in Black Rock City, the Carson City region offers plenty of recreation and entertainment. Downtown will be hopping with the Farmers Market, monthly Wine Walk, and this season’s last outdoor concert at the Brewery Arts Center – and that’s just Saturday! Join us for the 7th annual Comstock Community Rummage Sale on Labor Day weekend in Silver City. The rummage sale is on Saturday and Sunday, September 2nd and 3rd from 9AM to 5PM at the Silver City Town Park, just 4 miles south of Virginia City off SR 342. Good Deals for a great cause. All proceeds benefit the Preservation of the Comstock Historic District.

Summer weekends make me wish I had a clone. With all the hustle and bustle in town, there is just no way to do and see it all. Start the day at the Silver Dollar Car Classic and you can get your fill of shiny chrome and breakfast, too; the Kiwanis will be serving up pancakes until 10:30 a.m. The Downtown Carson City Wine Walk has been infiltrated by the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival. Several of the stops will be hosting musicians, in addition to vino.

Ready to let the good times roll, rock around the clock, or twist again? The Silver Dollar Car Classic is throwing a party in the front parking lot of the Max Casino – plenty of hot rods, shiny chrome, and great music by Route 66 is in store. The 14th Annual Jazz and Beyond Music Festival opens tonight with a Garden Party at the historic Bliss Mansion across from the Governor’s Mansion. Bring a picnic and enjoy an art show, great live music and tours of the mansion.

It’s almost like Christmas Day for some of us locals: the long awaited Taste of Downtown has finally arrived. Food, drink, live music, rubbing elbows with friends and neighbors, and a new wine-tasting add-on make this one of the best parties of the year. The morning brings an unparalleled opportunity: you’ve got one chance to walk, run, or bike right down the middle of the freeway before the new bypass is open to vehicle traffic alone. Grab your favorite four-legged friend and head to Adele’s: Dining for Dog Town is a delicious way to help out this amazing rescue organization.

What are you in the mood for? The Third and Curry Farmers Market is always a great place to start off your weekend. Kids won’t mind getting up early for the Young Eagle airplane flights at the Carson City Airport – they are free of charge for kids 8 – 17, you just need to be on time for registration. The Annual Chili Cook-off returns to Glen Eagles this weekend; with live music, a craft fair, and lots of yummy stuff to eat, raising money for Honor Flight has never tasted so good. Let the good times roll, Carson City. Cars, chrome, choppers, and kruzers are in abundance. Run Whatcha Brung at Fuji Park is open to any and all cars that can get themselves there. The Rockabilly Riot and T Bucket Alliance at Mills Park is an American Graffiti flashback. Cheer on our local motorcycle cops at the Extreme Motor Challenge, or hop on your own bike and go on a poker run with the Lords of Iron Motorcycle Club.

You'll have to choose between a Beatles Experience in McFadden Plaza and the concert at the Brewery Arts Center Minnesota Street Stage, where the Big Bad Voodoo Daddies kick off the first of the Levitt Concert Summer Series. Get yourself registered for the Karson Kruzerz' annual 'Run Whatcha Brung' at the Max Casino and stick around for Route 66 on the stage. Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. Holy moly, it’s going to be a busy weekend: busy and gorgeous out. A bowling tournament and the Comstock Shootout Soccer tournament have the hotels and motels busting at the seams. Celebrate Earth Day with Muscle Powered by making a small piece of Carson City that much cleaner; the trash meets at 8 a.m. and leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the day. It may be April’s Fools Day, but the fun going on around town is no joke. Get your blood pumping with the Carson Canyon Half Marathon (or Half/Half Marathon if you want something shorter.) It’s Wine Walk weekend, and with the sunny day you have no reason to stay home. The Youth Theater Carson City Showstoppers want to ‘Give Our Regards to Broadway’ during their one weekend only production. There’s too much to mention in this short opening paragraph, so keep reading for all the great things our valley and sister valleys have to offer.

Spring has sprung, but apparently Mother Nature didn’t get the memo. Join the Carson Victory Rollers at the Carson Mall and take part in an indoor wine walk and rummage sale. Help Hot Spot Yoga and Fitness for Life celebrate their grand opening with free classes, health vendors, a 5K run, and more. Hit the dance floor with the High Sierra Swing Dance Club; their monthly dance party is held in the Grand Ballroom of the Brewery Arts Center. Like to shop? How about sip wine? Love good deals? Then this event will be perfect for you! This year's Carson Victory Rollers Annual Rummage Sale will be pairing up with the Carson Mall to bring you a great sale and wine walk.

Shopping begins at 10am, Saturday, March 25, and corks will pop and wine will be poured 11am until 5pm. You can get a wine glass and wristband for the wine walk for only $10 or just come and shop our great bargains. Want to rummage without the wine? CVR Juniors will be selling baked goods and non-alcoholic beverages at the Rummage Sale, as well.

What’s this? A weekend with no snow in sight? That’s the best news I’ve heard in months. Welcome to the wrestlers and swimmers who are in town for their respective tournaments: you’ll find other fun things on this list to occupy your downtime. It’s a St. Patty’s celebration in Virginia City this weekend with the parade, Rocky Mountain Oyster Fest, and Ball Buster Saloon Crawl. Bragging rights are on the line at the Sixth Annual Thirsty Boy Homebrew Competition sponsored by Just Brew It. You’ll get a sneak peek at the soon-to-open Shoe Tree Brewery if you attend the award ceremony.

They may hit hard on the court, but the Carson Victory Rollers have a soft side, too.

"We're the sweethearts of the leagues around here," said CVR Events Coordinator Crystal Blackeye. "Sometimes they get into it with each other, but the other teams mended their ways because of us and became legit."
