A 22-year-old caregiver was arrested Sunday for suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon and alleged abuse by a mental health provider, a Carson City sheriff's report states.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office Investigation Division is asking for the public's help identifying two people suspected of stealing a wallet from a Walmart shopper in Carson City and then using a credit card from the wallet at the Walmart store in Douglas County.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. The monthly Downtown Carson City Wine Walk takes place Saturday followed by a performance from Tom Petty and Rod Stewart tribute bands during The Do Drop In’s “A Face in the Crowd” homeless fundraiser at Fuji Park. St. Teresa School will host its 17th annual Crab Feed Fundraiser. Combined with comedy at the Carson Nugget and Brewery Arts Center, the Carson City region is in store for a busy weekend. The Nevada State Archives is providing a free basic preservation workshop on March 12, 2020 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The training will cover preserving documents and photos, storage methods for various types of records, as well as information about electronic records. No previous experience is required; this training is open to anyone who might be interested. The training will be held at the Nevada State Library and Archives Building, 100 N. Stewart Street, Carson City.

This year March 6 is National Employee Appreciation Day, and anyone looking to have headshot portraits done — or employers looking to give something extra to employees — can submit a request to have photos taken Friday.

Nevada Commission for Women and the Nevada Women’s Suffrage Celebration Committee formed to help facilitate collaboration among organizations in Nevada to celebrate and commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment. As part of her Carson High School Senior Project graduation requirement, student, and committee member, Chloe Walt is working to educate Nevadans on the suffrage movement and the historic importance of the ratification of the 19th Amendment.

Stuart Rathbone first learned about Donner Pass after he moved to Northern Nevada from the UK five years ago. As he got to know the story, he became increasingly fascinated with the scale of the journey over the Sierra, and the scale of the engineering involved in opening that route to traffic.

With sunny skies and daytime highs in the 50s, Tuesday is shaping up to be a great day around the capital city. Muscle Powered will host morning and evening walks, plus there's an assortment of meetings, club gatherings, art showings, a local school board meeting and more. At the end of the day, there's no better way to cap off the evening than by celebrating, with your sweetheart, music about love. That will be what's happening at Living the Good Life as Mile High Jazz Band and our celebrated vocalist Jakki Ford will do just that presenting "Jazz Sampler for Sweethearts." Read on for details.

The Carson City Photo Club has announced the winners of its most recent photo contest. The theme addressed by this month's winners was "Music."

DES MOINES — The winner of Iowa’s first in the nation Democratic presidential caucus remained elusive early Tuesday morning as the clock struck midnight local time without the state party having reported any results of the prior evening’s caucus.

Carson Mall, 1223 South Carson Street, in Carson City will host a series of Valentine events, Feb. 12-16, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The mall will feature vendors, free Valentine Photos by Magical Moments, and chocolate dipped strawberries.

From Feb. 12 through Feb. 14, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., visit inside the mall and make a Valentine for a loved one. Then, make another Valentine for a Senior that will be delivered to local retirement homes.

On Feb. 15 Carson Mall will host Family Bingo Night. Proceeds will benefit Carson High School’s Safe and Sober Grad Night.
