Going into Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and a high near 70. The first day of the work week is deadline day to get nominations in for the Carson City Carson City 2019 Mayor's Arts Awards. Events around the capital city include a luncheon with Lt. Governor Kate Marshall, the second of a six-week standup comedy class, art showings, West Coast swing dancing and more.

The Carson City Office of Nevada JobConnect is hosting the Carson City Fall Job Fair on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition, the Carson City Nugget will be hosting a Job Fair on the same day, October 29, beginning at 2 p.m.

Positions include both experienced and entry-level positions for employers in manufacturing, security, construction, and other industries. See below for all of the offerings from the Nugget.

The Carson Nugget is pleased to announce that we are hosting a job fair on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to fill positions in full time, part time and seasonal capacities. All levels of experience are invited to attend the event which takes place in Alatte on the main floor of the casino on N. Carson Street.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the final V&T Railway train rides of the 2019 season, the 27th annual Carson City Pumpkin Patch at Seeliger Elementary School, fundraisers around town, coin press demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum, comedy at the Carson Nugget and more!

This Friday and Saturday, Comedian Jen Murphy will be performing at The Carson Comedy Club in Carson City! Jen Murphy is a nationally touring comedian with an innocent look and sharp wit.

Her side-splitting delivery has landed her headlining gigs at comedy clubs and festivals across the country! She has a half hour special called “This is Why You’re Still Single,” that’s aired on the TLC network.

Doors open at 7:15 p.m. The show begins at 8 p.m.

Carson Nugget and the Carson City based Food for Thought organization are hosting a coat drive for children now through Nov. 15. Organizers of this drive are asking for donations of new coats, for children ages 5 to 18, which will be distributed to children at the Kids Christmas Brunch, to be held Dec. 23 at the Carson Nugget Grand Ballroom.

Breezy and cool conditions are on the way as we look ahead to Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019. Events lined around the capital city area include art workshops and showings, a "scary makeup" class in time for Halloween at the Carson Nugget, a luncheon with Congressman Mark Amodei hosted by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, family story time at the Carson City Library, a women's safety meeting, Salsa dancing and more. This edition of It's Your City has all the makings of a horror movie just in time for Halloween. While learning about moulage, host Cortney Bloomer is made bloody!

To help members of the Leisure Hour Club celebrate Halloween, Sandie La Nae will share her knowledge of Carson City’s spirits at the Club’s next meeting on Wednesday, October 16.

Events include the 30th annual Outhouse Races in Virginia City, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event in Carson City, Fright Night at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, Oktoberfest at the Casino Fandango, the 26th annual 'Making a Difference' Golf Tournament and much more!

As part of Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest’s hazardous fuels reduction efforts, both Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts’ fire crews will conduct pile burning beginning in October 2019 through May 2020, weather and fuel conditions permitting.

Going into the last day of the month, Monday, Sept. 30, 2019 around the Carson City area and it looks to be quite chilly in the morning and then warming up some into the afternoon. Events include a luncheon with Nevada's State Treasurer Zach Conine, an art class and showings, West Coast swing dancing, and more. Enjoy the day.

There will be a Fat Tuesday Business Networking event at The Carson Nugget on TUESDAY, October 22, 2019. The event is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and the address is 507 N. Carson Street. We usually meet at The Alatte Coffee & Wine Bar, at the high table.

Featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine. A native of New York, in 2003 Conine earned his bachelor's degree from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, and in 2013 he completed his JD from UNLV's William S. Boyd School of Law.
