Thursday opens the first of the four-day annual RSVP Nevada Day Carnival at Mills Park with $1 ride family night hosted by Carson City Toyota. Other activities around the capital city include a Muscle Powered afternoon hike, art showings, library activities, a gold and silver rush presentation at the Nevada State Museum and more.
Nevada Day Parade to be televised to national audience

The annual celebration of Nevada's induction into Statehood is a time-honored and popular tradition, with upwards of 20,000 people flocking to the Capital region. This year, however, you don't have to be in the Capital city to be a part of the celebration.

This year, following in the footsteps of his relatives, Judge Russell has accepted the position of grand marshal for the Nevada Day Parade.

Carson City area activities ahead for Wednesday, Oct. 23 feature an economic roundup presented by the Northern Nevada Development Authority at Casino Fandango, Carson Tahoe's annual "Spooktacular" family event, Firehouse Subs will host our local Search and Rescue for a dinner fundraiser; Sierra Nevada Journeys and Nature Conservancy will present family STEM night in Genoa, plus art showings and more. Vote now for Nevada's tartan in kilt contest, coordinated by Northern Nevada Celtic Community
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 10/18/2019 - 2:27pmLocal resident William Puchert has an online campaign underway to get kilt manufacturer Sport Kilt to offer the Nevada State Tartan through their Design Your Own Tartan Contest. They offer kilts and products for less than $100, which is more affordable to getting the tartan fabric and having it made, which places the costs into hundreds of dollars. Sport Kilt already offers a California State Tartan. The contest deadline is Nov. 1 a day after Nevada Day!
The kilt manufacturer has told Puchert if he can show a significant demand for the tartan style, they would consider offering it as one of their products next year.
