The Silver City Preservation Society and Silver City Arts invite everyone to the Silver City Park on July 2, from 2-7 PM for a day of live music, food and drink, lawn games, an art show, cake raffle and more.

DEBAUCH-a-ReNO returns with a two-part festival in Reno, NV, from June 16th - June 18th, and in Virginia City, NV, at Piper's Opera House on July 14th with performances by The Mummies, Wild Billy Childish, The Kids, The Zeros, and many more.

Silver City is throwing a party! It’s Silver Palooza 2021 on Saturday, August 28 from 12-6 pm, the town park will be full of music, art activities, a beer and wine bar and a cake walk to raise funds for the historic School House Community Center.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — Organizers of SnowGlobe, the annual music festival held in South Lake Tahoe, have canceled their 10th annual event due to COVID concerns.

Gov. Steve Sisolak has recognized Thursday, Oct. 1 as “Vegas Strong Day in Nevada” and ordered Nevada State flags be flown at half-staff at all State public buildings in tribute to the victims of the October 1, 2017, shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in Las Vegas.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Franktown Apples in Washoe Valley is hosting apple picking Friday through Sunday. In celebration of National Public Lands Day, Nevada State Parks will have a fee-free day on Saturday filled with hikes and tours. The thaw continues around the capital city as we head into Tuesday with highs expected in the mid-50s. Events lined up feature morning and evening walks hosted by Muscle Powered, Carson City TRIAD will give a presentation at the senior center on scams targeting older adults. Also on tap, the Carson City Classic Cinema Club presents a Jimmy Stewart favorite "You Can't Take it With You" at the BAC; if you love music, there's Big-Band Jazz X2 at the Carson City Community Center, and you can join Carson Now as it celebrates its 10th anniversary at Living the Good Life.

It's "big-band jazz times two" when the Mile High Jazz Band and Carson Middle School’s Royal Blue Jazz Band present the 17th annual combined Jazz Extravaganza concert, on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at 7 p.m., in the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street, Carson City.

In his break-out role, Jimmy Stewart plays the son of a powerful banker who falls in love with a girl (Jean Arthur) from an eccentric family of free-thinkers, in this 1938 romantic comedy, directed by Frank Capra. Also featured are Lionel Barrymore, Ann Miller and Spring Byington.

Capitol FFA traveled to North Valleys High School Feb. 1 in order to compete in the Northern FFA Zone Competition. CHS Agriculture Mechanics, Welding, and FFA Adviser and teacher Rebecca Glocknitzer said, "I know all of our students worked hard to prepare for Zone, and Mr. Mann and I are so proud of their efforts."

Mile High Band Association’s 2020 Jazz and Beyond Festival Committee is sponsoring an art contest for Carson City, Lake Tahoe area artists. Selected entries in the competition may be used to promote the festival, and the winning entry will be featured on the festival’s advertising poster and program cover.

Heading into last day of 2019, we're looking at partly sunny skies with a high around 50 and low around 30. Activities around the capital city region are lined up through the day and evening. As we head into the final Monday of 2019, we're looking at a slight chance of light snow in the morning as a weak weather system brushes the region. Events around the Carson City area include a driver's education class offered through Western Nevada College Continuing Education, a luncheon featuring Patricia Ackerman, a Democratic primary candidate for Nevada's 2nd Congressional District, art activities and more.

Heading into the weekend, post-Christmas holiday activities continue around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include a Christmas Through the Years presentation at the Carson Valley Community Theater, Open Mic Night at A to Zen Gift Shop, musicians Lauren Kepler and Dan Cypher at Bella Vita Bistro, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club and much more!

For the past five years the Carson City Classic Cinema Club has been showing the great 'Golden Age of Hollywood' films to local moviegoers as a way to promote art education in the community. The club's founder notes its acceptance thus far has been slow going but, so far, successful.

The music is always amazing at Hangtown, but it’s the people who make this festival special each year. Four days of warm sunshine, laughter and kindness — even without power from Pacific Gas & Electric. The power would come on, but mostly it was turned off. Generators sufficed.

Nietzsche wrote that "Without music, life would be a mistake." But thanks to band teacher Nicolas Jacques, that's a mistake no one is making at Carson Middle School in Carson City. Music is everywhere in the school, the district and the surrounding community as students throng to join Jacques’ concert band, marching band and jazz band ensembles.

It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including HopeFest9 on Friday, dirt bike races at Fuji Park, a job fair at Eagle Valley Children's Home, and the final weekend of the Jazz and Beyond festival and Levitt AMP outdoor concert series at the Brewery Arts Center.

Coming up on Thursday, August 22, 2019, we can expect continued sunny skies with a daytime near 90. Among upcoming events: Thursday is the final day of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center. Take in a film screening and talk to the filmmakers who made them. There's a Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City lunch connect at Red's Old 395 Grill, plus Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park and a volunteer expo hosted by Leadership Douglas County. There's also a discussion about aviation history and trends at the Nevada State Museum, a Carson City GOP information meeting on Block Chain technology, Jazz and Beyond music festival events and more.
