The upcoming Board of Supervisor’s meeting will be held Sept. 5, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, and they’ll be discussing potential purchases and contracts, appointments to the Historic Resources Commission, requests from the Carson City Airport Authority and Public Works, community planning, and more.

Heading into Labor Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next four days, which include guided tours at the Nevada State Museum, movie showings at Mills and Schulz Ranch Park, a school supply car cruise and Bingo fundraiser at the Carson Mall, trash pickup at Lake Tahoe, a Rolling Stones tribute band at Carson Nugget, Virginia City’s Labor Day Parade and more!

Stop by the east side of Mills Park today, August 25, take a ride the Carson City and Mills Park Railroad, and then visit the Wungnema House for the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation’s monthly open house, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. There is no admission fee for the open house, and all are welcome.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including HopeFest9 on Friday, dirt bike races at Fuji Park, a job fair at Eagle Valley Children's Home, and the final weekend of the Jazz and Beyond festival and Levitt AMP outdoor concert series at the Brewery Arts Center.

Coming up on Thursday, August 22, 2019, we can expect continued sunny skies with a daytime near 90. Among upcoming events: Thursday is the final day of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center. Take in a film screening and talk to the filmmakers who made them. There's a Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City lunch connect at Red's Old 395 Grill, plus Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park and a volunteer expo hosted by Leadership Douglas County. There's also a discussion about aviation history and trends at the Nevada State Museum, a Carson City GOP information meeting on Block Chain technology, Jazz and Beyond music festival events and more. Save the date and join us at Mills Park on Oct. 5, 2019 for Relay for Life of Carson City and Douglas County. It will be a day to CELEBRATE, REMEMBER AND FIGHT BACK and we work towards ending those words "YOU HAVE CANCER"! There will be food, music and entertainment to celebrate the day. This year we have added a 5K to Relay that will be a glow run starting at 6:30pm.

Seventy two players from all around northern Nevada gathered at the Carson City MAC Saturday, August 3, for good play, new friendships and to raise money towards building dedicated outdoor pickleball courts in the Carson City area.

We're rounding the corner to the weekend as we head into Thursday, August 8, 2019. Events lined up include a morning hike with Muscle Powered to Marlette Lake, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, art showings, library events more. Hug your kids. Enjoy the day.

Hundreds of families packed the green belt at Mills Park Tuesday night to celebrate Carson City’s commitment to public safety during the 17th annual National Night Out.

The community event in the heart of Carson City was filled with music, games, activities, food and informational booths for kids and adults.

Heading into Tuesday Aug. 6, which means the safest family celebration of the year at the 17th annual Carson City National Night Out. This is an event like no other, where agencies who work in areas of public health and safety gather at Mills Park to meet with Carson City residents. This event features 3 hours of information booths, games, demonstrations, food and fun. Also happening Tuesday is a free robotics mini-camp for kids in nearby Silver City, Reciprocity Inc. will host a fundraiser at Rustically Divine, there's the Culinary Traveler’s Club's Polynesian Paradise featured at Bleu Café; the Carson City Classic Cinema Club will feature a Sci-Fi favorite at the BAC, plus fitness outings and more. Hug your children. Enjoy.

Join us as we watch The Goonies at Mills Park on Friday, August 30th. Bring blankets and chairs to sit out on the grass. All movies are FREE to the public. The movie will start at sundown.

The Pokémon Go Carson City group joined forces with Fallon, Fernley, Sparks, Reno and South Lake Tahoe Pokémon Go groups to hold the first Northern Nevada All Community Day event — and the biggest community day yet for Carson City — bringing more than 150 enthusiasts to Mills Park on Saturday for competition and prizes, food and family fun.

National Night Out, one of Carson City’s largest summer celebrations, is returning Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mills Park for its 17th year. And by all indications, it will be the biggest yet.

National Night Out is a way for residents to meet those who serve and protect our community as well as agencies that provide services, especially in areas of public health and safety. Agencies such as Search and Rescue, Health and Human Services, Care Flight, Advocates to End Domestic Violence, Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Carson City Fire Department, Nevada Highway Patrol, Department of Wildlife, agency advocates and dozens more.
