Well Being-Massage and Functional Fitness will kick off their new “Train Like A Mudder” program Saturday, March 14, in Carson City with classes beginning Monday.

The program, offered for six weeks or 12 weeks, is designed for those participating in the Tough Mudder event at Lake Tahoe, June 13-14, and features exercises that are designed to train for specific obstacles in the popular race.

On Sept. 1 the Carson City fitness mainstay Body by Pilates studio will be changing hands as Master trainer and founder Jan Shaw will be handing over the reins to Carson resident and certified Pilates instructor Angela Kennedy.

Shaw became interested in Pilates after a chance meeting with legendary trainer Leslee Bender. Jan trained at Bender’s Reno Studio receiving her certifications and opened Body by Pilates in 2003. The studio quickly became a local favorite for Pilates training and Yoga and has remained a popular training campus throughout the last decade.

In early morning fog on Sunday, July 20, 2014, a team of six riders began a 70-day long journey across the U.S. to bring awareness and support to today’s wounded warriors and their families. The South Lake Tahoe passenger of a motorcycle that crashed Saturday in Carson City has died, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Audrey G. Rugamas, 21, died of injuries after she was taken off of life support on Wednesday. Rugamas had received severe injuries sustained from the motorcycle crash with a vehicle, said NHP Trooper Dave Gibson.

State game wardens arrested three northern California women on Jan. 27 on charges of buying and selling abalone harvested under the authority of a sport fishing license.
In California, it is illegal to buy or sell sport-caught abalone, or any other fish or wildlife, because it leads to the over-harvest of the resource.
There is no commercial abalone harvest from California’s coast.
