Silver City Labor Day Weekend Rummage Sale! On Saturday, August 31 from 8 am to 3 pm in the Silver City Park there will be a town rummage sale to raise funds for the Comstock Residents Association.

Start your weekend off with a fun Poker Run. This Poker Run is open to the public. All motorcycles and cars are welcome.

Run date is Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019 and open to age 21 and over. The first stop in Virginia City will be open at 11 a.m. with the other stops being local in Carson City.

Heading into the final week of August and the Labor Day weekend around the corner, Monday, August 26 looks to be another especially hot day across the capital city and western Nevada with highs in the mid-90s. Activities around the capital city include a talk about earthquake preparedness with Carson City's fire chief, art showings, a clay club ceramics class at Western Nevada College, West Coast swing dancing at Carson Lanes and more. As summer winds down, fall events in Tahoe South are ramping up. And the secret’s out: Fall in Tahoe South is one of the most idyllic times to visit with mild weather, off-season lodging rates, more beach space and numerous events starting Labor Day Weekend.

The Carson Nugget in Carson City will present Rudy Columbini and The Unauthorized Rolling Stones, a tribute to the Rolling Stones over the Labor Day weekend.

The concert will take place Sunday, Sept. 1 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom inside the Carson Nugget, 507 North Carson Street.

The Nevada Highway Patrol and other Nevada law enforcement agencies participating in Joining Forces will be combining resources beginning Sunday, August 25 through Sept. 10 to apprehend impaired drivers.

The next Carson City School Board Meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27 in the Sierra Room of the Community Center located at 851 E. William Street beginning at 7 p.m.

CARSON CITY — The story of Frank Sinatra and his Nevada gaming license has all the makings of a Hollywood classic, with fame, fortune, the Mob, shady characters and straight shooters all in the mix. CARSON CITY — Nevada’s state museums are once again taking part in the national Blue Star Museums program, providing free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families.

The National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families program, now in its 10th year, launched the 2019 program on Saturday, May 18 – Armed Forces Day – and it will stay in effect through the Labor Day Weekend.

Carson City resident Brad Bartlett, who earlier this summer had been placed on the wait list for a heart transplant while hospitalized at the University of Utah Cardiovascular Center in Salt Lake City, received his new heart on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, his father Rick Bartlett said Friday.

Early Monday morning more than 70 Keep Tahoe Blue volunteers arrived at Commons Beach in Tahoe City to comb the sands along 6 miles of shoreline in search of items left behind by those enjoying the previous night’s festivities.

Reno finished with a 72-68 record, going 30-20 since the All-Star break. The Aces averaged more than 5,000 fans a game, and 4,186 turned out on a warm, sunny Monday Labor Day.

Labor Day is celebrated by many people as the symbolic end of the summer. It was also once the start of the back-to-school season, but for most U.S. school districts that has changed to August.

One person died early Sunday morning in a two vehicle crash involving a motorist driving the wrong way westbound in the eastbound lane on Interstate 80 at Patrick between Sparks and USA Parkway, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
