Thursday Hike to Longview Trail via V&T, Lincoln Bypass Hosted by Muscle Powered

Join us on our free leader-led hikes each week to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City! Meet in the small parking area opposite Longview Way on Kings Canyon Road. Water and sturdy closed-toe shoes required. Hiking poles recommended.

Bring a friend and/or friendly dogs. All hikes are 2-4 miles with duration of about 90 minutes, sometimes with elevation gains of 500’ or more.

Carson City residents post more Bobcat sightings

With heavy snow in the higher elevations, predator are coming closer into Carson City neighborhoods to find food.

"These were taken right out of my bedroom window last week," Burnaugh wrote. "I was approximately 5-7 feet from the cat through the window."

Two arrested for meth trafficking after parking in front of a 'No Parking' sign

A 47-year-old Carson City man and a 29-year-old Carson City woman were arrested early Monday morning on the charges of felony trafficking of a schedule one controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. The woman also had an additional charge of violating her suspended sentence.

I read with great interest the two letters in response to Guy Farmer's op-ed piece related to the Vintage at Kings Canyon development.

While the individuals were correct in that the Andersons have every right to sell their land, the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors are not automatically obligated to approve a zoning amendment from agricultural to residential to allow for said land to be developed.

A second round of pile burning is being conducted Wednesday by the Carson City Fire Department. The burn is being done in the area of Kings Canyon and Longview on the C Hill side.
