Enjoy an outdoor concert with the Sagebrush Rebels at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. You’ll find it located on Highway 88, just past the swimming pool in Minden, and remember to bring a chair. The Trippin King Snakes make their monthly appearance at the Carson Cigar Company for June’s Birthday Thursday. If you didn’t get your hot rod fix at the Rockabilly Riot, head to the Max Casino for Silver Dollar Cruise Night.

Some downtown businesses hurt by bike race closures

While the inaugural Epic Rides Carson City Off-Road mountain bike race series may have been a boon to the local economy, some downtown businesses struggled to stay out of the red last weekend because of what they felt were excessive road closures for the first-time event.

A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of domestic battery second offense and a felony parole and probation violation, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Meet in the parking area on Kings Canyon Road, opposite Longview Way.
Always bring water, a hat and use sunscreen. Bring a friend or friendly dogs, both of whom also need water! Recommend buying some hiking poles or any type of adjustable poles for use on the uphill trails.

These hikes will be 2-4 miles in distance with flat and/or uphill hiking on sandy or dirt paths. We measure by time hiked rather than distance so that we are hiking about 90 minutes round-trip.

Carson City arrests: Goodwill cashier jailed on suspicion of fraud and embezzlement

A 20-year-old Goodwill cashier was arrested Friday on suspicion of felony fraud and embezzlement after alleging pocketing money from cash register transactions, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

My family and I are the owners of the Andersen Ranch on the west side of Carson City. Thousands of negative and emotional words have been written and spoken and posted on blogs about a proposed project — The Vintage at Kings Canyon — that would develop part of our property. A report on the April 25 meeting on The Vintage At Kings Canyon

The project called The Vintage At Kings Canyon was presented by the managers in an open meeting at the Fritsch School on April 7th to a crowd estimated at 250-400 people.

On April 25 it was again the topic of another public meeting at the school. This time the meeting was called by the neighbors, and drew over 200 highly interested people, along with the mayor, two candidates for mayor, a supervisor, a candidate for supervisor, a reporter, a retired reporter, and other retired reporter also a candidate for supervisor.

Couple finds physical therapy along Carson City mountain trails

Having just finished physical therapy school in 1994, Kevin Bigley and his then-girlfriend Tammie were having trouble finding good-paying jobs in Denver where they lived at the time.

Courses announced for inaugural Epic Rides, Carson City Off-Road mountain bike event

Organizers of Carson City's first Epic Rides Off-Road mountain bike event in June unveiled its event course Tuesday through a video and a series of maps. The event, June 17-19, will gives riders three distance options: beginner, weekend warrior and pro level.

The riding courses were picked in cooperation with Visit Carson City, the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and Nevada State Parks.

Care Flight called for injured dirt biker at Kings Canyon

A dirt biker was injured Saturday evening in the Kings Canyon area, with Carson City Search and Rescue responding, according to emergency dispatch.

A Care Flight helicopter was called at 7:39 p.m. to pick up the injured off-road motorcycle rider as he was being brought down from the canyon by search and rescue and the Carson City Fire Department.

Virtual tours of Carson City’s trails now available via Google Trekker

Visitors and residents alike can now virtually hike the trails in and around Carson City without ever going outside.
In a partnership the Google Trekker, the Carson City Visitors Bureau mapped 10 area trails using high-definition technology.

Mark Kimbrough chosen as 2016 Andy Aldax Award recipient

The Carson Water Subconservancy District has selected Mark Kimbrough to receive the 2016 Andy Aldax Carson River Watershed Award for Exemplary Service in Conservation and Protection of the Carson River Watershed.
