Art Outside: Sketch & Trek
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 08/05/2019 - 4:34pmCalling all creative adventurers! Join the Parks, Rec & Open Space Dept. on the first Interpretive Program devoted to drawing and hiking. If you're a skilled artist or a novice, bring your sketchbook out to Kings Canyon and learn different techniques to be able to portray your the natural environment into a visual art.
Bring your own sketchbook and drawing utensil if you have it, but we will also have paper and pens for folks as well. Please make sure to wear close-toed shoes and bring plenty of water & sun protection. See you there!

New ‘Andersen Ranch’ housing development in west Carson City under review

This new development is not to be confused with Buzzy’s Ranch on the eastern side of Carson City, also named for the Andersen family.

June 11, 5:30 pm – Kings Canyon Trail/Lincoln Highway. Meet at the west end of Kings Canyon Road by the trailhead, CC. We will hike to Horse Creek Ranch meadow and back. Water and closed-toed shoes required. Hat and poles recommended.

Approximately 1,500 housing units could be coming soon to Carson City

There could be an additional 1,500 housing units available in the coming years. The developments range from being under review to now under construction.

Carson City emergency crews called to rollover with injuries on Kings Canyon Road

UPDATE 3:30PM: The Carson City Sheriff's Office has opened one lane on Kings Canyon Road for traffic.

UPDATE 3PM: Care Flight has flown the 33-year-old male driver of the vehicle to the trauma ward at Renown in Reno. Their condition is unknown at this time. The cause is under investigation.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Tuesday afternoon to a vehicle rollover with injuries on Kings Canyon Road.
