AYSO Carson City Youth Soccer opens fall 2020 registration for kids of all ages

The AYSO Carson City Youth Soccer Region 140 organization is bringing excitement back to the state capitol.

Registration for the upcoming fall season is open for kids ages 3-18. Early bird registration ends July 15 and can be made online or in-person at Yogurt Beach, located at 3228 N. Carson St. in Carson City. In-person registration will be held Wednesday, July 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Brewery Arts Center’s Flatbed Concert Series brings 14k to Northridge, Mark Twain neighborhood

The Brewery Arts Center will deliver live music directly to the citizens of Carson City while practicing social distancing once again this week.

Miles Construction Company has generously donated the use of a Flatbed Truck and with financial support from The Change Companies, the Nauman Foundation, and Carson Tahoe Hospital, the BAC will place musicians and bands on the flatbed and drive them through the streets and neighborhoods of Carson City throughout June and July.

Carson City welcomes new deputy, sheriff discusses community responsibility at ceremony

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office held a swearing in ceremony Thursday for Jacob Vanbeuge, who was welcomed as a new sheriff’s deputy.

Vanbeuge is a United States Army veteran and was presented with an army pin to wear on his uniform by Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong following his badge pinning ceremony.

Bowling is back at the Carson Lanes Family Fun Center and Gold Dust West Casino in Carson City.

Retiring Carson City sheriff's DARE officer leaves legacy of relationship building with kids, parents and community

For more than 15 years, Lisa Davis served as the DARE officer for Carson City. Her last day is Thursday as she and her husband Bob will be relocating to Oregon. She leaves Carson City with many accomplishments in providing children guidance and away from falling into the trap of alcohol and drugs.

Carson High School Cross Country seniors run 20.20 mile relay

CARSON CITY — Saturday morning five seniors from Carson High School’s Cross Country team celebrated the end of the school year and their sports seasons with a 20.20 mile touch-less relay run. They began on the westside of Carson, ran up through Lakeview to loop around Franktown Road and finished at Bower’s Mansion State Park.

Fishing Report: Spring Fishing has begun, Lakes and Campgrounds beginning to open

Hello fellow anglers, welcome to Memorial weekend. As many of you know, Inyo County is closed to fishing until June 1st. But on May 22 the Mono County Board of Supervisors wrote a letter to the CDFW director Charles H Bonham, requesting the reopening of fishing season earlier then their previous request. As of May 23rd, Mono County is now open for the 2020 fishing season, right along Alpine County that opened on May 15th.

For those that will be getting out, Alpine County is open for fishing throughout the county.

Carson City's Boys and Girls Club will continue with 10-week summer program

The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada announced that it will be continuing with its 10-week summer program, providing a space for school-aged children during the summer months.
