Georgia-based rock duo 2 Broke Kings will appear in concert at Carson Hot Springs as part of festivities at the July 13, 2019 Sassabration.

The 5th annual Sassabration celebrates diversity, community, equality. It will be held at Carson Hot Springs, Shoe Tree Brewery Company and Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint, 1500 Old Hot Springs Road in Carson City.

Yes, the Memorial Day holiday is nearly here and we may even get a weather break or four in between expected showers through the weekend, forecasters say. A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday on multiple felony counts including suspicion of burglary, obtaining money under false pretense, possession of stolen property, possession of credit cards without consent of the owner and drug charges.

Heading into Thursday, May 9, 2019 we're looking at a few showers and partly sunny skies around Carson City. The event lineup features the RSVP Spring Celebration and Carnival kickoff and family night at Mills Park, a Healthy Communities event in Silver Springs, CASA volunteer information hour workshop, an afternoon hike along the Ash Canyon trail, art demonstrations, live music and more. The 2019 Vacancy Study for Carson City has been released, showing a growing trend of low vacancies, especially in multi-family residential complexes and industrial space.

According to the study, however, there are several projects either underway or waiting for approval, including new apartment complexes, industrial buildings, school expansions, a dog boarding facility, and more.

The capital city will celebrate Tinseltown, classic cinema and raise money for Carson City school art programs at the 5th annual Hollywood Gala on Saturday, May 18 with the theme "A Star is Born" hosted by Carson City Classic Cinema Club.

24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 9:40 p.m. in the 700 block of Silver Oak Drive for misdemeanor resisting, obstructing and alternative sentencing violation.

A 25-year-old Mound House man who was driving with a revoked license for a prior DUI, crashed his vehicle early Sunday on Highway 50 East injury a female passenger. He was arrested for suspicion of felony DUI causing substantial bodily harm and other charges, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors overruled an appeal aimed at stopping the construction of Sierra Skies RV Park, an Extended Stay RV Park, with a clause added that would help ensure park guests would not become permanent residents of the park.

With a little help from the wind and a birds-eye view, we're flying into Friday, April 5, 2019 with plenty to do and see as we get ready for the weekend. National Weather Service forecasters say it will be a breezy day with some rain. But don't let that dampen your day as there's art showings, live music and hilarious comedy venues at the Brewery Arts Center and Carson Nugget.

The Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and NHP were called Wednesday afternoon to the area of Highway 50 East and Frontier Drive for a crash involving two vehicles. Minutes later another crash was reported in the area of Roop and Hot Springs.

Carson City residents experienced discolored tap water on Tuesday, which, according to Carson City Public Works, is caused by non-toxic, naturally occurring minerals that have accumulated in the water system. Public Works is currently spot checking and flushing the water systems and taps should be all clear within 24-hours.

Indoor cyclists burned at least 2,000 calories and rode about 50 miles within the first 20 minutes at Life Cycle Elite Spin Studio's 24-hour community ride Friday.

The event was organized by Jill Larson, who coordinated with the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Nevada and the Healthy Habits Program.

Life Cycle Nevada will host a 24-hour community ride for charity in Carson City beginning Friday. Ten teams have signed up and have raised around $2,000 so far for the Boys and Girls Club Healthy Habits program.

On Jan. 30, the Carson City Planning Committee decided to approve a Special Use Permit for an extended stay RV park on property zoned Tourist Commercial located at 1400 Old Hot Springs Road. The maximum stay would be 180 days.

However, an appeal has been made to the Board of Supervisor's by a nearby property owner asking to revoke the Special Use Permit.

The next meeting of the Board of Supervisors will be held Thursday, March 21, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the community center located at 851 E. William Street.

Items on the docket include runaway youths, the Ross Gold Park Playground Replacement and ADA Access Project among others.

A 33 year-old Reno man was arrested Friday afternoon at 5:06 p.m. in the area of N. Lompa Lane and Dori Way for multiple misdemeanor offenses, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, including drug paraphernalia possession and ex-felon failing to register.
