Carson City men face charges after spraying windows with BBs during shooting spree

Two Carson City men face property destruction charges after allegedly shooting out 13 windows inside a building in the 2800 block of Arrowhead Drive that caused an estimated $5,200 in damage.

Eric Dean Larson, 23, faces a felony property destruction charge as well as being in the possession of a burglary tool, a gross misdemeanor. Garrett Wesley Blackwell, 20, faces a felony property destruction charge, a charge of discharging a firearm into a structure, also a felony, and a misdemeanor charge of discharging a firearm.

Carson City police arrest Dayton man on weapon, drug charges

A Dayton man faces multiple drug charges and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.

Ian Miles Lister, 33, was arrested in the 400 block of Saliman Road in Carson City at around 5:30 this morning after an officer spotted his vehicle committing several traffic violations.

Lister provided his license to the officer but was unable to provide proof of insurance or his vehicle registration. Dispatch informed the officer that his license had been revoked, according to the arrest report.

Couple face child endangerment charges; infant exposed to marijuana smoke inside Carson City apartment

Carson City authorities arrested a couple on multiple charges, including child endangerment, domestic battery and unlawful posession and sale of prescription drugs.

Angela Rebecca Virginia Bowman, 19, of Mound House is being held on $7,500 bail and faces two felony drug charges including possession of prescription drugs without a prescription and possession for sale.
David Joseph Wright, 26, also of Mound House, faces a gross misdemeanor child endangerment charge and a domestic battery charge.

Carson City authorities made two felony arrests since Friday including a woman wanted on a violation of a bail condition, and, in a separate case, a man who admitted to using a credit card that didn't belong to him to buy merchandise as trade to fuel his habit.

Authorities on Friday arrested Laurie Ann Hancock, 43, of Carson City who had been on the run from the police after skipping out on a September hearing in Carson City Justice Court. The woman is suspected of stealing money from her former employer and was supposed to be in court on felony charges.

10 arrested in major Northern Nevada drug bust

A major drug operation east of Carson City was brought down late Tuesday with 10 arrests, two being juveniles, the Nevada Department of Public Safety reports.

The bust happened at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and involved multiple law enforcement agencies that resulted in the execution of four search warrants and 10 arrests and the confiscation of 1502 grams of drugs, including more than three pounds of methamphetamine.

Carson City deputies arrest three for felony heroin trafficking

Three men were arrested Friday evening at a home in the 1000 block of Colorado Street on a variety of drug-related charges.

Deputies came to the home to serve a contempt of court warrant on Craig McDonald, 57, who reportedly lives in the home with his mother, stepfather, brother and his brother's fiancee. Deputies had received tips that the home was the site of frequent drug activity.

Joshua Dean Harrah, 23, is being held on $5,000 bail after being arrested on Sunday at 12:20 in the afternoon in north Carson City.

Officers were dispatched to 20 College Parkway after a report that a woman had been hit in the nose, suffering a fracture. The suspect, Harrah, had left the scene after the incident.

Prescription drug roundups will be held in Carson City, Dayton, Silver Springs and Fernley this Saturday, Sept. 25.

Bring your unused and expired prescription drugs to the drop-offs for proper disposal by the sheriff's office. Disposal protects the community and its water supply. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Acceptable items include: Unused or expired prescription drugs, over-the-counter pills, prescription liquids, pet medications and syringes. The Lyon County roundup will not be accepting syringes or medical waste.

Five arrested in Carson City drug sweep at apartment

A Carson City father was arrested early Saturday and faces multiple felony and gross misdemeanor charges after authorities found bags of suspected methamphetamine on the floor of his Fifth Street apartment as he was caring for his two small children.

Meanwhile four people, identified by the suspect as friends, face multiple drug charges.

Brett Steven Jones, 31, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and prescription drugs for sale, two counts of gross misdemeanor child endangerment and a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge. Bail was set at $10,000.

A Carson City man faces felony drug charges after police suspected he was dealing narcotics from his home, which is adjacent to Bordewich Bray Elementary School.

Thomas William Hinsen, 51, was arrested Thursday. He faces a felony charge of maintaining a home that is known for drug activity next to a school, possession of a prescription drug without a script, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on $23,632 bail.

Ghana certifies Nevada-made product for HIV treatment

The Ministry of Health in Ghana has certified one of the products produced by Carson City, Nevada-based Aloha Medicinals, as a sole therapeutic treatment for HIV infection.

The government ran three independent clinical trials of the product this year, and found it to be effective for those infected with HIV, but who have not yet developed symptoms of AIDS.

Carson City sheriff's candidate Bob Guimont names sergeant as his choice for undersheriff

Carson City candidate for sheriff Bob Guimont has selected Sgt. Darrin Sloan as his choice for undersheriff.

Sloan, 47, is a 20-year employee of the Carson City Sheriff's Office, four of those as a volunteer reserve officer and the past six as a sergeant both in the jail and on patrol. Prior to this was employed by the Carson City School District for nine years and served in the U.S. Army.

An 25-year-old Carson City man and an 18-year-old woman face multiple felony drug charges after authorities obtained a search warrant and found, among other things, large quantities of methamphetamine inside a Mountain Street home near an elementary school.

NHP: Increased patrols, DUI checkpoints on tap through Labor Day

As the three-day Labor Day holiday weekend and the unofficial end of the summer season nears, law enforcement agencies plan to beef up their visibility, including a number of DUI checkpoints that will begin this weekend, the Nevada Highway Patrol announced today.

At least two roadblocks will be staffed by deputies, officers and troopers as part of the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety’s joining forces grant. One roadblock will be in Lyon County on Saturday and the other in Washoe County over the weekend, NHP reported in a press statement.

At least one Carson City School District official is troubled by the outcome of Friday's misdemeanor driving under the influence guilty plea by Carson Middle School Principal Sam Santillo.
School board trustee president Norm Scoggin said he's "amazed" that a misdemeanor charge of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana was dropped by the Washoe County District Attorney's Office.
