Get your fill of sunshine today, we’ve got a wet wine walk weekend coming. The stars will be shining bright tonight, though, Western Nevada Musical Theater Company debuts its spring musical ‘Nice Work if You Can Get It’ complete with amazing choreography, melodies, and an exceptional cast. Cinco de Mayo parties all over town offer up food and drink specials, in addition to the fun times that can usually be found on a Friday night. Start the day with a cup of joe or a yummy blended drink at Dutch Brothers Coffee and you’ll be helping find a cure for ALS.

The warming trend gripping Carson City will stick around for the next couple of days, with highs in the mid 80s today and upper 70s Friday before a big change arrives for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Carson City’s Muscle Powered, a bicycle and pedestrian advocacy organization, is joining the nationwide Bike Month celebration during May.

Holy moly, it’s going to be a busy weekend: busy and gorgeous out. A bowling tournament and the Comstock Shootout Soccer tournament have the hotels and motels busting at the seams. Celebrate Earth Day with Muscle Powered by making a small piece of Carson City that much cleaner; the trash meets at 8 a.m. and leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the day. Wild Horse Children’s Theater finishes up its spring production of ‘Annie, Jr: The Musical,’ so don’t miss your chance to catch these talented kids on stage. Muscle Powered will be out and about for their monthly Trash Mob and invite you to help clean up a little corner of our valley. The Annual Polar Plunge at Zephyr Cove is a brave way to help the Special Olympics raise money, and the costumes get wilder every year. Keep reading and enjoy the weather before the clouds return.

Irish eyes are smiling on us: it’s going to be a gorgeous day. You won’t have to look far for some green beer, whiskey, or corned beef – there will be St. Patrick’s Day parties all over. Live music is on the menu, as well. Choose from Men of Worth at the Brewery Arts Center, an all ages punk show at Sassafras, or Stereo Galaxy in the McFadden Plaza, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The brave ones will be at the St. Baldrick Fundraiser at Red’s Old 395 where you’ll see some heads shaved for a good cause. Where ever you end up, just make sure you have a plan to get home safely.

Soroptimist International of Carson City welcomes members of the community to its lunch meeting Wednesday, March 22. The club meets from noon until 1 pm in the north room of Glen Eagles Restaurant.

With spring and summer around the corner, job opportunities have begun to sprout up around Carson City and Northern Nevada. Job seekers and students are encouraged to take advantage of a spring job fair planned for Friday, March 17 at the Carson City Community Center.

What a great start to March. A few days on sunshine under our belt and now it’s wine walk weekend. With fingers crossed, the weather should hold out until it’s over, but be prepared for some wind. The Shrine Circus is in Reno, Girl Scout Cookies are on sale, and we inch closer to the longer days and shorter nights of Spring. The sun is shining on Carson City and all sorts of fun is blooming. It’s a great day for the kids with the Kerak Shrine Circus in Reno, cookie decorating at Genoa Candy and Coffee, and a Father-Daughter Dance at Dayton High School. Show some love to Carson High Senior Amber Reeves: she’s displaying her photography at the Brewery Arts Center for her Senior Project. Carson City Arts Gallery introduces their monthly Artist Reception tonight by welcoming Kathleen Osborne Flanagan. The nightlife tonight features music, karaoke, dancing, comedy and more. Bringing an American reality television series to CHS Business Students is another reason why Carson High School is a cutting edge high school. Thanks to teachers Billy McHenry and Angila Golik as well as Carson City community professionals, students are offered real life experiences.

The play on words are endless for Virginia City’s 26th annual Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry, taking place March 11, 2017 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the heart of the historic mining town. The “oysters” consumed at this festival are the land variety, meaning bull or sheep testicles.

An interior designer, Tricia Lincoln has a natural draw to the arts. The Fashion Film Festival on Friday piqued her interest, and gave her a reason to break out a new dress.

Bethlehem Lutheran School in Carson City once again declared war to help those children and families in need as they fight cancer.

Ross Stores, Inc. announced that it is partnering with Boys and Girls Clubs of America with a four-week program called, “Help Local Kids Learn.” Beginning Saturday, Feb. 4, customers in Carson City can make a monetary contribution at their local Ross Dress for Less location during checkout to be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada this February.

This year’s Winterfest theme is hanging out with Harry Potter, and the plan is to turn CHS into Hogwarts with teachers creating a Hogwarts’ themed door followed by a door decorating contest.
