Nevada Humane Society recognizes everyday heroes of homeless pets

Some nights I just need to unwind and I do so by watching mindless TV. While watching “Supergirl” (yes, I am ashamed), I began to think about who the everyday heroes are in life. Every day there are people who silently, without fanfare, perform acts of heroism. While they do not zap bad guys with laser eyes or lift multi-ton girders from innocent victims, Nevada Humane Society heroes are the thousands of adopters and volunteers who give so much to help homeless pets.

Welcome to the weekend, Carson City. The temperatures will be brisk, but nothing a scarf and sweater can’t help guard against. The real cold shows up late Sunday and brings with it a good chance for snow. Mary Poppins would advise we bear it with a spoon full of sugar.

Locker rooms no place for press

In spite of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which guarantees freedom of the press, there are some places where journalists don’t belong and are simply not allowed: At times inside a court room with closed proceedings, a jury deliberation room, a medical exam room, and in a legal consultation, among other places.

One State, Many Cultures: Official Nevada Day 2015 Program of Events

Nevada, after 151 years of statehood you’re looking better than ever and still going strong! I’d like to particularly honor those who were behind those changes – all the folks who have molded Nevada into the wonderful state we are today.

We at Nevada Day Inc. would like to say thanks to the extremely diverse cultures who have contributed their beliefs, ways, dress, food, and arts to help define our beautiful and unique State. Thank you for deciding to make Nevada your home.
