Carson Nugget, Food For Thought team up for children's winter coat drive

Organizers of this drive are asking for donations of new coats, for children ages 5 to 18, which will be distributed to children at the Kids Christmas Brunch, to be held Dec. 23 at the Carson Nugget Grand Ballroom.

Pet food drive underway at Michael Hohl Motor Company in Carson City

The dealership will donate all supplies to Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, rural northern Nevada’s largest social services program.

She has been involved in anti-slaughter issues for more than two decades, carrying on the work pioneered by Velma Johnston (1912-1977), who came to be known as "Wild Horse Annie" for her fight to gain federal protection of wild horses and burros.

Nevada Raider Nation - Carson City Chapter Game Watch

The game, televised live from London, will be shown on three TV screens. New members are welcome to watch with the veterans, and are welcome to join. Membership is $20 per person.
Support sought for horse protection fencing at Carson City's Centennial Park

This fence will help keep the wild horses in the hills and off the golf course, softball fields and out of the businesses and neighborhoods as well.

The McKinney-Vento Students in Transition Program in Carson City is seeking donations of new (not used) coats and jackets for students in transition. Students in Transition are those individuals who lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence.

New fans are welcome to join Chapter members and root on the Oakland Raiders. Jimmy G's will offer drink specials, while members will grill hot dogs for the crowd. Donations to cover the cost of food are accepted. A 50/50 cash drawing will be held as well.

Obituary: Nevada outdoorsman, firefighter and artist David E. Wise

Dave was a 2nd generation Nevadan born in Carson City on July 14, 1937 to Roy and Lynn (Stewart) Wise. He was an amazing man who loved life, he was easy going, caring, funny, loving, and always had the most positive attitude. He was always smiling, even in the end.
He was so well liked, loved by others and had so many friends who thought highly of him. He loved his family and his extended family who just simply became his family.

Originally named the Carson City Kiwanis Annual Scholarship, it was renamed following the passing of long-time Kiwanis member, Ralph Denny.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. under the direction of William Belcher at the Choral Room in Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City.
