For the Grownups: Holiday Crawl Saturday in downtown Carson City to benefit Holiday with a Hero

With family activities making up the Christmas tree lighting at the capitol on Friday night, Saturday night is reserved for grownups who are invited to take a festive walk through downtown Carson City and make stops and their favorite restaurants and bars as part of a community fundraiser for local schoolchildren who are without permanent homes.

Dayton Urgent Care is hosting its annual Angel Tree for the kids in the Dayton, Nev. community. Last year was a great year for these families and kids that needed a little help.

We are always thankful to the community for helping out with all of our drives that we do. I am hoping that this year will be as great as it was last year.

Western Nevada College's Carson City campus and Child Development Center will be closed Monday due to weather. Interactive Video classes transmitting from Carson City to other campuses are also cancelled, school officials announced.

UPDATE 8:59AM: All Schools in Carson City will be closed for the entire day today, Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, due to winter related conditions. All employees, students and teachers should remain home. No student activities or programs will occur. This includes afterschool programs, practices, performances and contests including interscholastic athletic events. No school services such as transportation, nutrition or student health will be provided.
WNC campus is also closed for the day.

WNC classes delayed until 11 a.m. in Carson City, Douglas County School District: 90 minute bus delays Monday for Valley, Lake Tahoe schools

UPDATE MONDAY: Carson City School District is on a 2-hour delay, according to school officials. Principals will adjust the school schedule for the shortened day. Educators and staff should arrive at the school at least 15 minutes before school is to begin on the shortened schedule. Early Release Day schedule has been canceled. The school day will end at the normal time. Breakfast will not be served.

UPDATE: The Carson City campus of WNC, including the Child Development Center, will have a delayed start Monday. The campus will open at 11 a.m. Classes before this time are cancelled. Jump Start students taking classes at a high school should refer to the high school for closure/delay information. The Fallon campus will open at 8 a.m. No word yet on any delays for Carson City, Lyon and Storey County schools.

From the Douglas County School District website: Due to inclement weather, buses will be on a 90-minute delay on Monday, Dec. 2 for all schools, Valley and Lake.

Carson City man sentenced to 10 years to life in prison for sexually abusing a child

Robin Miles, 58, was sentenced to life in prison with a possibility of parole after ten years on Wednesday after being charged with sexual assault on a child under the age of 14, lewdness with a child under 14, and child sexual abuse.

Miles plead guilty to lewdness with a child under the age of 14, and was sentenced on Nov. 20 in District Court.

Miles was originally arrested on Dec. 15, 2018 by Special Enforcement Team deputies on warrants charging him with the above offenses.

Miles was known as a local Carson City comedian prior to his arrest.

Carson City agrees to settle second Camp Carson molestation lawsuit for $1.25 million

The Carson City Board of Supervisors agreed to settle a lawsuit for a total of $1,250,000 after four children were allegedly sexually abused while enrolled with Camp Carson by a 15-year-old volunteer.

The lawsuits allege that while the children were enrolled in Camp Carson Summer Camp in 2016 as Wagoneers (first graders) a 15-year-old volunteer inappropriately sexually touched the four children.

Carson City arrests: Caretaker jailed for allegedly threatening client with knife

A 63-year-old caretaker was arrested Monday for suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, preventing or dissuading a person to report a crime and battery, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.

Reno man held on $250,000 bail for sexual assault and three counts of privacy invasion

A 35-year-old Reno man was arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies on four felony warrants including sexual assault and invasion of privacy and is being held on a $250,000 bail.

According to the report, Jonathan Keith Graves was arrested after deputies received information that Graves had an outstanding felony warrant issued on Sept. 13, 2019 for sexual assault and intrusion of privacy with an electronic device. They learned that Graves would be driving from Douglas County to Washoe County between the hours of 5 and 6 p.m.

This seminar is for women of all ages, for those who are pregnant, recently had children or had children 40 years ago. We will be discussing pelvic floor dysfunctions which can be a variety of different things.

We will also learn how to control them and start to heal our bodies. We are often told dysfunctions like leaking urine or things that just don’t feel right postpartum are normal and happen to every woman postpartum. We are then never offered solutions beyond kegels.

These dysfunctions are common but should never be perceived as normal. The pelvic floor is comprised of three layers of muscles and these are the muscles responsible for control over proper pelvic floor function, usually postpartum they just need to be retrained how to work, they are rarely damaged and unable to function properly again.

Operation Scarecrow: Law enforcement to conduct child sex offender checks in Carson City, Washoe County

In an effort to provide enhanced safety for children and to give the public a greater sense of security during Halloween evening, officers from the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Division of Parole and Probation, will conduct Operation Scarecrow on Oct. 31, 2019, in Carson City and the Reno, Sparks areas of Washoe County.
