Once again Benson's Feed will team with CASI to host pictures with Santa. Santa and his elf will be at Benson's Feed Store located at 2750 Hwy 50 East December 10th from 10 AM to 2 PM. Bring your pets and family members for pictures with Santa. The cost is $15 for a 4x6 print and a digital copy to share.

Lifesaving for homeless pets in Carson City is about to reach a new beginning. A brand new animal shelter is opening, with a special Open House this Saturday and Sunday.

More than $300,000 has been awarded to the Nevada Humane Society (NHS) by Maddie’s Fund, a nationally known family foundation based in Pleasanton, California, to expand life-saving efforts at the brand-new Carson City Animal Shelter.

The weather cools down just as the fun heats up. Fundraisers, contests, food, football, outhouse races and more. Carson Valley Community Theater has one last performance of ‘The Savannah Sippin Society.’ Pooches in costume are welcome at Genoa’s last Sweet Sippin Sunday: there will be a pet parade at 3 p.m. And for all those brides out there's there's a fall wedding faire at Silver Oak Golf Club. The Carson Animal Services Initiative (CASI) hosted its 7th annual Pooch Plunge on Saturday. CASI provided tennis balls, extra towels and plenty of dog treats.

CASI’s annual Pooch Plunge at the Carson Aquatic Center is always a fun time for your furry friends. Red’s Old 395 welcomes back the THiNK PiNK kick-off to breast cancer awareness month. It’s hard to believe that nearly two years ago we began a partnership with Carson City, as the city selected Nevada Humane Society to lead Carson City Animal Services. Our tasks would not only include pet adoptions and animal sheltering, but the animal regulation services too.

Construction workers are putting the finishing touches on the new $4 million Carson City Animal Shelter in preparation for the facility's Oct. 8 grand opening.

Happy Tuesday, Carson City. Parks and Rec’s Easy Walk is a special trip to Spooner Lake where you’ll get to enjoy the crisp autumn morning in a beautiful setting. Listen to the voices of the past as members of the Washoe Tribe recount stories of their people in their native tongue at the Carson Valley Cultural Center and Museum in Minden. J's Bistro in Dayton hosts a spaghetti feed fundraiser for the Remote Area Medical program. A special lecture on the Sutro Tunnel takes place in Virginia City this evening.

It isn't every day you find a dog willing to do something for a cat.

But that's exactly what happened Sunday morning at Riverview Park off East Fifth Street in Carson City when dozens of canines and their humans participated in CASI's annual 5K9 Run/Walk.

Historic Dayton is the place to be. The Annual Dayton Valley Days and Railroad Days features a chili cook-off, pet parade, pinewood derby race, and much more. Join CASI at Riverview Park for the annual 5K9 walk/run and don’t forget to bring your pooch. The Edible Pedal is one of the most delicious bike rides around with 100, 50, or 10 mile courses. The United States Air Force Band of the Golden West has returned and will be at the Community Center tonight, if you were quick enough to grab free tickets from the Chamber of Commerce. Join the ladies of Muscle Powered for a mountain bike ride through beautiful Ash Canyon. Hear the stories and legends of the Washoe People in their native language with translations into English at the Carson Valley Cultural Center. Continue on for even more to do.

I am quite fond of Tuesdays. For a weekday, they usually have some great offerings. Today's Easy Walk with the Parks and Recreation Department takes you along the Moffat Open Space on the east side of town. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada offers 'Books and Brags', essentially a story with craft time. Have a hot time with the fire-dancers of Controlled Burn: they meet at A to Zen on Tuesdays and welcome newcomers.

TUESDAY:

Compared to the last few weekends, Carson City is downright sleepy. That just makes it much easier to get around town and explore. Head to Mills Park for the First Annual Polynesian Festival in the Marv Teixeira Pavillion. Glen Eagles welcomes back the Regional Chili Cook-off this weekend; get your fill of some amazing grub and help raise funds for Honor Flight Nevada.
