Annual CASI Bark, Whine and Dine event set for July 9

CASI will be holding their annual Bark, Whine and Dine event on July 9th starting at 5:30 PM at Fuji Park. Dinner will be provided by the award winning Carson City BBQ.

There will be silent auction items galore. Join CASI for a fun filled night as they raise money to help build a play yard for the new animal shelter. Tickets are on sale now for $30.

Whether you celebrate taco Tuesday, Tahoe Tuesday, or just any day that the sun is shining, enjoy. Dayton kids are in for a treat at the Dayton Library with at reading of 'The Tortoise and the Hare.' The Reno Rodeo is still around, so hit up their carnival and watch the cowboys do their thing. If you can't make it to Reno, Country Line Dance at Carson Lanes will let you get a taste of what you're missing. Tonight, enjoy singer-songwriter Canyon White at Living the Good Life. However you spend today, have a great one, Carson City.

  • Reno-Tahoe Odyssey (178 mile relay race; begins at Wingfield Park in downtown Reno; legs 24-28 run through Carson City)

Coming together ~

On May 28, CASI celebrated the spirit of community by hosting a Roundtable Discussion with area rescue nonprofits and veterinarians. We listened, shared, asked, answered, and focused on meeting our important objectives while helping each other in the process. The wonderful collaboration that our common objective brings...finding loving homes for all of our furry friends...made for worthwhile, and sometimes challenging, conversation.

Doors open at 11:30 AM and the first game starts at 12:30 PM. Buy in is $10 and extra packs are $5. Special games are $1 each. We also have a 50/50 raffle and door prizes too. No need to worry about lunch we offer hot dogs at our snack bar and sometimes the wonderful volunteers will bring a yummy homemade soup.

A new exhibit has hit town. Over the weekend, the Nevada Artists Association welcomed new works for its Imagination show. Take a moment and explore all the downtown area galleries: the Community Building by City Hall, the gallery upstairs of in the Courthouse, the Sierra Room in the Community Center, and the walls of the Visitor Center. Grab your cowboy boots and learn to line dance at Carson Lanes. Sassafras welcomes Judith and Rocky to the stage for a jazz jam as fun and funky as their menu.

If you’re looking for something indoors, the Spring has Sprung Art Show at the Nevada Artists Association Gallery at the Brewery Arts Center is overflowing with color. The Clearcreek Bowman have started up their Archery Shoots for the season: free for kids 17 and under, and only $5 for those older. Dance the night away with Country Line Dance Lessons at the Eleventh Frame Lounge in Carson Lanes.

Let someone else take care of Sunday breakfast. The Elks Club throws open its doors for their monthly pancake breakfast which runs today, Sunday, until 11 a.m.
Challenge someone to a mini tournament during Carson Lanes Breakfast and Bowl. You will not want to miss this month’s CASI Bingo day at the Senior Center. Someone will walk away with $1000. Let the Tibetan Monks teach you inner-peace at the Brewery Arts Center. Two workshops today are offered as part of the Sacred Arts of Tibet Tour.

Sunday is going to be a big day at our Carson City Senior Center! Carson Animal Services Initiative is hosting our monthly CASI Bingo, but this month there is a guaranteed BIG payday! Buy-in is $10 with additional packs for $5. CASI ball and other special games are $1 each. If the CASI cash ball isn't won during regular play, CASI will hold a special game with a payout of $1000!

CMS Leadership looking out for shelter animals

Carson Animal Services Initiative (CASI) would like to thank the CMS leadership classes for your amazing donation of pet food, bedding, dog toys and money. Your donation of $700 will be put toward helping to equip the play yard at the new shelter. This area will allow potential adopters a chance to get better acquainted with furry friends. It will also provide a safe place for shelter dogs to play, socialize and have a little time out of their kennels.

Are you ready for some football? Maybe you’re just a fan of the commercials. Either way, today is the big game between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers. Carson City will be hopping with gridiron parties, beverages and hot wings at bars, restaurants, and casinos. Start the day with a pancake breakfast at the Elks Club. For those who aren’t a pigskin fan, consider playing a few rounds of bingo to benefit the Carson Animal Shelter Initiative.

CASI to donate $200K Thursday for new animal shelter

Here's to compassion and coming together to make a positive difference! Carson Animal Services Initiative (CASI) will be donating $200,000 to Carson City at the Jan. 21 Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting to help with the building cost of the new animal shelter.

CASI will continue its mission of fundraising to provide needed assistance for programs that reduce animal suffering, homelessness and pet overpopulation.
