Local cancer patients share journey through art

Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, an affiliate of Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah, is hosting an art show through Friday, Dec. 18. This touching collection of over 25 pieces, created by patients, survivors, caregivers and loved ones, represents an inspiring journey of hope through paintings, mixed-media, music, photography, and quilt-work.

Think Pink and Strut Your Mutt at the Carson Mall

This Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015 bring your Mutt or yourself and walk laps around the Carson Mall. Get sponsors to donate a set amount per lap. (or sponsor yourself). Strut your laps, collect the donations and we will send them to the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center.

Dress crazy dress pink, this is think pink month for breast cancer awareness. Event will go from 11am to 3pm. Walk any time during that time frame. The Humane Society will be here with pet adoptions. CASI will be here seeking donations for the animal shelter.

Carson Tahoe’s Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness campaign kicks off Thursday

Carson Tahoe Health’s 14th annual Think Pink breast cancer awareness campaign kicks off this Thursday at Red’s Old 395 Grill from 5 to 7 p.m. in Carson City.

The event is free to attend and individuals wearing a Carson Tahoe Think Pink T-shirt (any year) will receive free appetizers courtesy of Red’s, which is hosting the event.

Carson Tahoe raises more than $120,000 for local cancer patients at HopeFest 5

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation held its 5th annual HopeFest on Friday, August 21 at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center. More than $120,000 was raised through sponsorships, and sale of raffle tickets, food and beverage with 100 percent of the proceeds benefit cancer patient support and no-cost lodging at Carson Tahoe’s Merriner Cottages.

Tap into the steamy south tonight with the Southern Drawl Band. The Brewery Arts Center is the only Nevada venue on their coast to coast tour, and this Country, Southern Rock, Trop Rock, Bluegrass blend of music is sure to be a great show!

Poetry, art, and theater today in Carson City. All day long, the CCAI exhibit, Tuscarora, will be visible in the Sierra Room as the Board of Supervisors conduct their meeting. Head over to the Legislature for ‘RenoScapes,’ the final SENarts ‘Works of Artists’ program this season; check out the LXS Exhibit by artist Dawn Dot Star while you are there, it will be changing next week. Teens are invited to learn some acting and improv skills at the Carson City Library this afternoon. Nevada Arts Council Fellowship winners, Laura Wetherington and Jared Stanley, will be sharing their poetry and honored at a reception today at Western Nevada College.

Carson Tahoe offers a special opportunity for women with a family history of breast cancer to learn about genetic risks and proactive steps to protect against the disease.

With Mother’s Day coming up on May 10, Carson Tahoe Health is encouraging women with a family history of breast cancer to be proactive about their breast health by attending their annual event, Project Pink. A woman’s risk of breast cancer doubles if she has a close relative (mother, sister, or daughter) who has been diagnosed with the disease.

This National High Five Day I’m throwing out a virtual high five to the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension for putting on this year’s Capital City Farm Days at Fuji Park. 4-H is alive and well in our region, and rightfully so. Agriculture is a huge part of what makes this state great. The program is geared toward school-children, but is open to the public today and tomorrow if you want to learn more about ranching and farming in our region.

Rotary Club of Carson City gears up for April's Beer and Pizza Championships

Now considered a Carson City spring tradition, the Rotary Club of Carson City will play host to its fourth annual Carson City Beer and Pizza Championships at the Carson Mall on Saturday, April 25.

The community is welcomed to taste, judge and enjoy finely crafter beer brewed from around the region and piping hot fresh pizza tossed and baked from local restaurants. Sixteen respected craft beer brewers and microbreweries will offer their top selections to attendees as they compete for awards during the Championships.

Carson High School student raises more than $1,000 for local cancer patients

Kimberly Parsons, a Carson High School senior and dedicated member of the Key Club, organized and implemented a fundraising campaign for area cancer patients as her senior project. In doing so, Parsons sold cancer awareness themed t-shirts, wristbands, and baked goods throughout the campaign, raising a total of $1,245.

Parsons presented a check to the Carson Tahoe Health Foundation in Carson City on Tuesday, generously donating proceeds to benefit area cancer patient support which is then distributed through the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center.

HopeFest free outdoor concert tonight to benefit local cancer patients

UPDATE: The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is pleased to host HopeFest 2014, an outdoor concert tonight, Friday, offering free admission with all sales on food, drinks and raffle tickets directly benefitting local cancer patients.

Nationally famed folk-rock band, Antsy McClain and The Trailer Park Troubadours known for their cowboy jazz, Tex-Mex groove and soulful R&B dance tunes will be the headlining performers. The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center located at 1535 Medical Parkway, Carson City.

HopeFest outdoor concert Friday in Downtown Carson City to benefit local cancer patients

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation announces HopeFest 2013, an outdoor concert offering free admission with all sales on food, drinks and raffle tickets directly benefitting local cancer patients.

The outdoor event featuring the band Notch 8 takes place on Friday, October 4 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. outside of the Firkin & Fox restaurant on Third Street in Carson City. The event was rescheduled due to hazardous air conditions caused by the California Rim Fire.

Carson Tahoe’s twelfth annual Think Pink campaign kicks off on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 to honor Breast Cancer Awareness month. Red’s Old 395 Grill will once again host the event from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Carson City.

The HopeFest Benefit Concert at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center has been canceled due to hazardous air quality from Rim Fire smoke. Carson Tahoe Health Foundation had net proceeds of over $50,000 for their 2012 2nd Annual Carson City HopeFest fundraiser. Cancer Program Achieves First Gold Level Rating in Nevada

CARSON CITY — Carson Tahoe Health announces that the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons granted a three-year renewal of accreditation to the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center. The surveyors awarded seven extra commendations for exceeding industry standards, making CTCC the first cancer center in Nevada to achieve a “gold level” designation.

Rotary Club of Carson City Announces Winners of Second Annual Beer and Pizza Championships

CARSON CITY, NV - For the second year in a row, area residents came out by the hundreds to enjoy an evening of pizza, beer, music and fundraising for a good cause.
