CARSON CITY — Do you love Nevada history, and, more importantly, do you love sharing that knowledge with others? If so, the Nevada State Museum has a perfect opportunity.

The museum is recruiting for volunteers, who will get a multi-day in-depth jaunt through the museum’s collections and operations.

The Nevada State Museum was voted the best museum in rural Nevada by the readers of Nevada Magazine in 2018. It couldn’t have received that recognition without the cadre of volunteers who help out on a daily basis, said Director Myron Freedman.

The Timberline neighborhood in Carson City celebrates winter! We have enjoyed watching these icicles form for the past couple of weeks. The constant freeze-thaw temperatures have created this beautiful scene, but beware walking under them.

According to the Carson City Board of Supervisors and Board of Health agenda for the upcoming Feb. 21 meeting, the University of Nevada, Reno Police will begin staffing the Western Nevada Campus by July 1, 2019 in an Interlocal Agreement for operational support between the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and the University of Nevada, Reno Police Services.

A 28 year-old Carson City man was arrested late Friday night in the 3900 block of U.S. Highway 50 East on multiple outstanding bench warrants, including two felony counts, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

This snowman was spotted on the corner of Combs Canyon and Lakeview Road on Monday morning. It looks to be about 16-feet tall with spooky eyes that appear to be 6-inch reflectors.

Public Works crews from Carson City and the Nevada Department of Transportation were busy Monday morning digging out, sanding and plowing roads from all the lake effect snow that happened Sunday.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called early Monday morning to a structure fire at 1034 Elm Street on the west side of town.

Valorie leaves three children, Jeremy Houston Sheldon, Jerrad Joseph Sheldon, of Carson City, Nevada; and Kourtny Jean Sheldon of Las Vegas, Nevada. As well as her three children, she leaves a daughter in law, Veronica (Mrs. Jeremy Sheldon) and beloved grandchildren,
Helen Bernice Sheldon and Garrett Sheldon.

Another round of moderate snowfall around Carson City, Carson Valley and Reno this Sunday has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Winter Weather Advisory for the region.

Good morning, Carson City, on this Sunday before President's Day. What this means for those who have Monday off is that the weekend has merely hit its stride.

A lone coyote was spotted Saturday afternoon in the fields west of N. Ormsby Blvd, site of the former Anderson Ranch property, searching the frozen, snow-covered landscape for a fresh, warm meal to take back to her den.

The Wheel House in Carson City was the place to be Saturday afternoon for skateboarders, scooter riders and fans of the wheeled sports.

Celtic music trio Tres Noctambule has cancelled this evening's performance as the current weather conditions made it difficult for the musicians travel to Carson City. We will notify everyone of the new date as soon as it settled. We will honor all tickets purchased to tonight's show and also give refunds if any ticket holders have a conflict for the new date. The Brewery Arts Center thanks the public for your understanding and continued support.
