CARSON CITY — Reno artist Kate O’Hara need only to open her door and look to the mountains to find inspiration for her creations.

O’Hara’s exhibit, “Botanica Obscura,” can be seen for the next three weeks at the Nevada Arts Council’s Legislative eXhibition Series (LXS) inside the Nevada Legislative Building in Carson City. Throughout the 2019 Legislative session, the works of six Nevada artists is being featured. O’Hara is the second of the six artists and her display will remain in place through March 15.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Nevada receives donation of sweatshirts, coats for members

Carson City arrests: Man jailed for suspicion of DUI, having guns while intoxicated

A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 9:25 p.m. for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, and three counts being in possession of a firearm while under the influence, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Carson Victory Rollers hold first 2019 bout against Nor Cal

Carson City's hometown roller derby team, the Carson Victory Rollers, opened 2019 with their first bout held Saturday against the Nor Cal Roller Girls inside the Carson City Community Center gymnasium.

True to their name, the Victory Rollers cruised to a 154-66 win.

Saturday's event was a doubleheader. The first bout was a scrimmage for the Junior Victory Rollers.

Carson City Fire Department on scene of multiple rollovers in Washoe Valley

Carson City Firefighter-Paramedics were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 580 in Washoe Valley near the Bellevue overpass Saturday night.

The collision in the northbound travel lanes resulted in the rollover of one vehicle.

Carson Assembly No. 7 Rainbow Girls will host Painting with a Pal on Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carson Lodge No. 1 of the Free and Accepted Masons, 113 E. Washington Street (at the corner of Carson Street) in Carson City.

With heavy snow in the higher elevations, predator are coming closer into Carson City neighborhoods to find food.
