Students receive introduction in drawing and painting in various mediums. Small class size will ensure that each student will receive individualized attention geared towards his or her ability level. Class will be opened to limited number of experienced students wanting to improve their skills with little guidance. This class is specifically for hand-building & wheel throwing (based on wheel availability) projects. Glazes and firing are included in tuition. Students must purchase their own clay. Jazz and Beyond Music Festival Guitar Summit- Three Dimensions of Guitar

Expert guitarists Terry Scott, Steve Hayes, and Dave Bell provide music, conversation, and insights on playing guitar as part of a band. This is a great festival event for guitar students, musicians at all levels, and music fans who want to learn more about guitars and jazz. The event includes raffle drawing; grand prize is a guitar from the Guitar Center of Reno, custom adjusted by Terry Scott. They will wrap up the afternoon with a guitar jam.

Nevada Artists Association Hosts Landscape Gallery

Take a glimpse at a photograph that evolves into multiple masterpieces at the Nevada Artists Association’s Seventh Annual Landscape Show at the Brewery Arts Center Gallery, from July 31 – September 7 in Carson City.

Participating artists paint from the same photograph provided from the show using their own style and mediums, and even creating their own version of the photograph. The gallery will display the different styles that the artists have used for their creation.

Arts Center Holds Public Business Meeting

The Brewery Arts Center board will hold its annual Membership Business Meeting on Tuesday, July 24, at 5:30 P.M.
The meeting is open to the public and attendees are encouraged to share their thoughts and inputs of how the BAC can better serve the needs of the Carson City community. There will also be an opportunity to meet the board and staff of the BAC.
The meeting will be located at the Brewery Art Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449. W. King Street.

Local Karaoke Night to be on Live Television

Become a “Carson City Idol” by performing at the Drop-In Karaoke Night – Idol Style, that will be broadcasting live on television and the internet!

The friendly, non-Simon Cowell, Idol-Style Judges will be observing each participant's performance. Participants are welcome to bring their own karaoke track, choose from a provided song list, or even a self-written song.

Carson City goes full-board live music with Jazz and Beyond Music Festival in August

The summer sizzles as the Mile High Jazz Band Association, Carson City, local businesses and jazz lovers proudly present the 2012 "Jazz & Beyond" Carson City Music Festival, an annual event that began in August 2004. Performances at multiple venues in Carson City will feature more than 100 musicians in over 50 bands, Aug. 3-19 and are mainly free. Music styles include Dixieland jazz, big band, bluegrass, Latin, blues and folk.

The Brewery Arts Center and Wild Horse Productions have announced a partnership that will welcome Wild Horse Productions as a resident company at the Brewery Arts Center.

While the BAC is open to other artists and arts organizations, as well as the general public for collaborations and to rent their facilities, a resident status may be offered to organizations who demonstrate sound business practices, financial strength, the ability to fill seats and, above all, artistic prowess. Both organizations will retain their independence and tax exempt, nonprofit status.

Kids! Audition Workshop August 21

AUDITION WORKSHOP

      Wild Horse Children’s Theater is presenting an audition workshop to help prepare young people (ages 8 and up) to audition confidently anywhere by strengthening audition and performance technique for musical theater.  This is a great workshop if your child plans to audition for THE LITTLE MERMAID audition coming up in September.  The workshop will be held Tuesday, August 21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Performance Hall at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

The Brewery Arts Center will offer a Creative Acting and Play Writing experience on the SLHS campus. All students will have the opportunity to experience, explore and have fun learning the foundational concepts of acting, character creation, play writing, pantomime, tableaux, theater sports/ improvisation games, movement for the stage, voice for the actor and Alexander Technique in a positive and safe environment. A final group celebration and camp presentation will be held on June 29th for friends and family.

Jed Block to Present 'Now and Then: A Pictorial Analysis of Carson City Changes'

Jed Block will present a slideshow/talk on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. at the Carson City Library. The title of the talk is "Now and Then: a Pictorial Analysis of Carson City Changes." Mr. Block has collected numerous pictures of Carson City's Carson Street and downtown area from earlier periods, such as the 1950s and 1960s, and compares them to recent photos of the same locations. These comparisons reveal a lot about the history of Carson City and the colorful people who shaped its future. The event is free and open to the public.

Auditions for "Steel Magnolias"

Proscenium Players is holding open auditions for their August production at the Brewery Arts Center of “Steel Magnolias” directed by Abbey Gardner and produced by Melissa Knight.

Steel Magnolias is a comedy–drama play about the bond among a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana. It is written by Robert Harling, based on his experience with the death of his sister. The title suggests the "female characters are as delicate as magnolias but ...as tough as steel".

Proscenium Players is holding open auditions for their May production at the Brewery Arts Center of “Twelve Angry Men” directed by Jeff Fast and produced by Jonni Moon.

Brewery Arts Center seeking new operator for cafe

The Brewery Arts Center is pleased to announce it is in process of seeking a new operator for the BAC Cafe located in the Artisans Store.

Qualified food operators interested in submitting a proposal please seek the Request for Proposal here. Deadline is March 9.

The BAC will be hosting an open house for any interested operators Monday Feb. 13 at 3pm, including a tour of the facilities and get an over view of the program.

'Forever Plaid' coming to Carson by Wild Horse Productions

Wild Horse Productions is proud to present FOREVER PLAID, one of the most popular and successful musicals to hit the stage! This hilarious flash-back to the 1950s and the memorable music of that era will be presented on Friday and Saturday, March 30, 31, April 6, 7, 13 & 14 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, April 8 at 2:00 pm at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. Men of Worth

The Brewery Arts Center is the place to be St. Patrick’s Day weekend when a bit of Ireland and Scotland come to town. The folk duo Men of Worth will bring Celtic music to life in the Performance Hall on Friday, March 16th at 8pm.
Scotsman Donnie Macdonald and Irishman James Keigher blend music and storytelling to take audiences on journey to their homelands. The self described Extreme Traditional Celtic Musicians have preserved the emotion and tradition of their homeland songs while at the same time telling new stories.
