AUDITION WORKSHOP

      Wild Horse Children’s Theater is presenting an audition workshop to help prepare young people (ages 8 and up) to audition confidently anywhere by strengthening audition and performance technique for musical theater.  This is a great workshop if your child plans to audition for THE LITTLE MERMAID audition coming up in September.  The workshop will be held Tuesday, August 21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Performance Hall at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

Using The Little Mermaid script and songs, students will learn valuable insider audition tips, how to use the singing voice as an acting tool, how to select the right song for each audition, how to cold read a script, how to prepare a resume, and proper dress for auditions.  Students are encouraged to bring their prepared audition song and accompaniment music to this workshop to work on your audition material in a safe, supportive environment.

Instructors are Carol Scott, Executive Director of Wild Horse Children’s Theater and guest instructor, Sierra Scott.  Sierra is a professional Casting Director based in Los Angeles.  She has worked on feature films, commercials, and TV shows.  Sierra started her professional acting career when she was 10 years old and, before moving to LA, she was a professional actor in New York City.  She has performed around the world and credits include the first national tour of “Oklahoma”, “Cats”, “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, “White Christmas”, “Anything Goes”, and “42nd Street”. She was also a principal singer for Radisson Cruise Lines. Sierra holds a B.F.A. degree in Musical Theater from the Conservatory at Webster University.

Parents are invited to the last half hour of the workshop for a question and answer session to get more information from industry professionals about “Kids in the Biz” and the entertainment industry in general.
