Brewery Arts Center welcomes Wild Horse Productions
The Brewery Arts Center and Wild Horse Productions have announced a partnership that will welcome Wild Horse Productions as a resident company at the Brewery Arts Center.
While the BAC is open to other artists and arts organizations, as well as the general public for collaborations and to rent their facilities, a resident status may be offered to organizations who demonstrate sound business practices, financial strength, the ability to fill seats and, above all, artistic prowess. Both organizations will retain their independence and tax exempt, nonprofit status.
The new partnership will offer Wild Horse Productions the ability to produce a full, main-stage production season with both their children’s theater division, Wild Horse Children’s Theater, and their adult theater division, Wild Horse Theater, in a central, recognizable location. It will also allow the theatre company and the BAC to collaborate and expand its programming in the areas of arts education, including workshops, and classes in the performing arts and also to collaborate on larger scale theatrical productions. Wild Horse will open its’ season at the BAC with the Northern Nevada premiere of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr.
The benefits to both organizations may also offer the opportunity for; expanded audiences, joint marketing and membership opportunities, collaboration on grants and funding, and greater educational opportunities for families and children in our community. "We really see this as a new model for cooperation between two organizations working together for the greater good of our community. We are proud to have the support of the BAC and the community in this transition period from our previous venue”, says Carol Scott, Executive Director of Wild Horse Children’s Theater.
“We are excited for this next phase of our growth and development in our programming at the Brewery Arts Center,” says Tami Castillo Shelton, BAC Director of Programs. “Welcoming Wild Horse and their staff to our facilities is a great ‘kick off’ to a new and exciting year of rich collaborations for us, and especially what we may offer cooperatively to our community.”
Wild Horse Productions has been one of the premiere theater companies in our community for the past 6 years. They are an educational non-profit organization formed to create extraordinary theatre experiences that educate, challenge and inspire young people in our community. They believe in the power of theater and arts education to enrich and transform the lives of young people.
The Brewery Arts Center is the only full-service cultural arts council in the region. As such it provides arts programs, including performances, exhibit opportunities, art retail services, and cable access television productions. They support artists, arts organizations and community audiences, providing services across a four county region including Carson, Story, Douglas and Lyon. The BAC campus is housed on two city blocks and hosts two performance spaces, a community ballroom, three arts classrooms, a gallery, Artisans Store, cafe and media center. The BAC was established in 1975.
