Chance of snow showers early New Year's morning for Carson City region
A fast-moving weather system may produce snow showers early this morning in the Carson City and Carson Valley regions, according to the National Weather Service and Carsonweather.com.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday. The heaviest snowfall may happen between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. with accumulations of 1 to 3 inches with higher amounts in the foothills and Sierra. Because of frigid temperatures, the storm is expected to produce snow on all the valley floors.
Snow will likely impact travel around the region, with icy roads, especially on bridges and overpasses, according to the weather service. For the latest road information click here.
