Cell phone aides in search for missing Ash Canyon hiker
Carson City search and rescue crews found a hiker Friday night who called authorities after she fell about 7 feet off the trail in the Ash Canyon Road area. She was found near a water tower after officers flashed their lights and blasted their sirens. Carson City Fire Battalion Chief John Arneson told KOLO 8 News Now the woman said she had taken a short fall off of the trail. She had a cell phone with her and called dispatch for help around 6 p.m. She communicated with dispatch during the search, telling them she was hearing sirens and seeing lights. She was taken by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center in Reno.
Authorities were also combing the area after the woman said a man may have been hiking with her.
