Carson City weather: Sunny and seasonal with potential for gusty winds and rain Friday
The National Weather Service is forecasting a significant change in the weather late this week and into the weekend, announcing that confidence is increasing for a high wind event Friday with strong winds continuing Saturday and Sunday.
Damaging winds will be possible along with impacts to travel for high profile vehicles, aviation, and high fire danger, according to the weather service, with the system bringing the potential for locally heavy rainfall to portions of the northern Sierra and northeast California over the weekend and into early next week. Will the system make it to western Nevada and Lake Tahoe?
At this point, the weather service says forecast details are subject to change over the next few days so if you have plans late this week into the weekend please keep an eye on the forecast.
Forecast highs for Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas will be in the mid to upper 70s Monday and Tuesday, the low 70s on Wednesday and Thursday, and mid 60s by Friday with the approach of the system.
