Carson City School District board agrees to fire teacher who made alleged threat
The Carson City School District board on Tuesday accepted the recommendation of its superintendent and agreed to terminate an Eagle Valley Middle School shop teacher after he allegedly made a threat to an employee in November.
The district has agreed to pay the teacher, Wayne Haack, the remainder of his salary for the 2009-2010 school year, as recommended by a hearing officer.
The school board upheld the recommendation of Superintendent Richard Stokes for the termination. The board, based on the recommendation of Stokes, has agreed to follow the details laid out by the hearing officer that essentially allows the district to carry through with the termination.
"We followed the basic process in our field as it applies to personnel issues," Stokes said this afternoon.
