Carson City Sheriff's Office reports 13 area sex offenders in noncompliance with registration
On September 10th, 2020 the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division conducted a compliance check for sex offenders whom are required to register their current addresses with this Sheriff’s Office.
A total of 144 people were checked for compliance with the following results:
101 people were confirmed to be within compliance of registration
30 people were left messages for later registration validation
13 people were found to be non-compliant and will be investigated
Of the 13 non-compliant persons, all will be reported to the State of Nevada for review and may be officially placed in non-compliant status. A number of those may also face arrest upon warrant, as requested by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office conducts these checks frequently, and often coordinates efforts with the NV State Division of Parole and Probation, to ensure public safety through registration compliance.
There are three tiers of sex offenders under Nevada law.
Tier one is the lowest, and offenders in this category are required to register with their local agency annually.
Tier two is the next, and offenders must register semi-annually.
Tier three includes the highest level of offenders, and they are required to register quarterly.
