Attract tourist dollars to Nevada by using Highway 95
As an incentive for Telsa and other companies to build in the Reno – Tahoe Industrial Center on USA Parkway and benefit Nevada, Interstate 11 should be built from Yerrington to tie into the Reno – Tahoe Industrial Center and to I-80. This should be presented to Telsa now.
Interstate 11 should be built parallel to US Highway 95 from Las Vegas to Tonapah on a straight line from Tonaph to Yerrington. Also I- 580 should be extended from Carson City to Yerrington which would give a direct route to Carson City and Reno.
This route would reduce the distance from Las Vegas to Reno by 120 miles and the travel would be reduced by two and one half hours. This would reduce the cost of gas by $20.00 at $3.50 per gallon for a one way trip.
The added benefit of an I-580 extension between Carson City and Yerington would be reduction of traffic on Highway 50 from Spanish Springs to Carson City and reduce the travel time from Yerrington to Carson City by 30 minutes.
For traffic going from I-10 & I-40 this would reduce the time from Las Vegas to Sacramento and north to Seattle two to eight hours less than going through Los Angles- depending on the traffic encountered in LA. This traffic would bring millions of dollars of revenue to Nevada.
Create a Need For interstate 11
To boost Nevada’s economy, an advertising campaign should be imitated to encourage travelers on Interstate 40 and 10 in Arizona to take Highway 93 to Las Vegas and highway 95 to Reno and on to Sacramento and Seattle instead of I-5 north. As few as 10 additional cars a day would generate millions of dollars in revenue for the state of Nevada and Arizona.
Billboards on Interstate Highway 8, 10, 40 and 5 north of Sacramento, and magazine brochures placed in motel rooms and restaurants would be ways to advertise. The magazine cost could be paid for with ads for motels, restaurants and tourist attractions.
Contact AAA American Automobile Association, the online map services and GPS map suppliers to show the benefits of Highway 95.
The driving distance is the same, but the travel time is much quicker. Driving on Interstate 15 from Barstow to Los Angles and taking Interstate 5 north can add hours to the travel time, as well as frustration for the driver. It can also increase the cost of the trip by having to spend a night in a motel and lose days of vacation time.
For the travelers in a hurry it would save them time and money. For the vacationing travelers, taking these roads would not only save time and money, it is a beautiful scenic route with many tourist attractions along the way:
Las Vegas, Highway 95, Reno and Carson City, Casinos, Mizpah Hotel, Scheels and Cabalas, Hoover Dam Mines and Ghost towns, Virginia City, Lake Mead, Death Valley, Car Museum, Red Rock Canyon, Lake Tahoe, Valley of Fire, Train Carson City to Virginia City, Rafting and tubing.
