Carson City Fire Department knock down spot fires near Russell and Long
Carson City Fire Department and sheriffs deputies responded Wednesday morning to two spot fires in the area of Russell Way and Long Street.
The fires, believed to be deliberately set, were reported shortly before 11 a.m. Forward progress of the fires, which briefly sent up plumes of heavy smoke, was stopped at 11:02 a.m. and the fires were quickly knocked down.
According to dispatch, a woman was seen leaving the area who was observed by witnesses as starting the fires. An investigator has been called to the scene, and Carson City sheriff's deputies are also investigating.
Traffic in the area was closed in the area near the fire. Highway 50 East, which was closed briefly, is now reopened.
