Ross Gold Park playground in Carson City now open
CARSON CITY — The Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department is pleased to announce the Ross Gold Park Playground Project has been completed and the new universally accessible playground is now open to the public.
The playground provides outdoor play environment and experiences for the physical and social inclusion of all ages and abilities.
In addition, it provides an inclusive multi-generational play destination that encourages active, independent, and meaningful play for everyone. Garden Shop Nursery Landscaping Division began construction on the project in April, 2019 and completed the project on time and within budget.
This project was part of the City’s on-going efforts to reinvest in our aging parks infrastructure. Go here for previous story. It replaced a 25 year old playground with the City’s first universally accessible playground and made ADA access improvements to the asphalt parking lot.
The City acquired $261,657 from a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant and $91,664 from the Community Development Block Grant program. Match for the grants came from Residential Construction Tax.

The 7-acre neighborhood park is located in south Carson City between Snyder Avenue and Appion Way.
