Carson City men face battery charges after fight at Tahoe beach
Two Carson City men face charges after a fight was reported in the Tahoe/Incline Village area, in which the victim was allegedly hit in the head with a rock.
Dennis James Harrison, 21, faces a felony charge of battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held on $30,000 bond. Joseph Gonzales, 19, faces a misdemeanor battery charge. His bail was set at $1,132.
According to the arrest report, Carson City deputies responded to the Chimney Beach area along with Washoe County officers on Wednesday afternoon in reference to a fight involving three men.
Deputies arrested the suspects after they were located on Spooner Summit headed toward Carson City. Washoe County Sheriff's Office deputies had advised Carson City authorities that the suspects were driving a green Ford Escort on Highway 50.
Carson City sheriff's deputies spotted the vehicle, but because of the barrier, could not make the turn-around, according to the arrest report.
Relaying information about the suspect car, deputies were able to respond to the bottom of the hill where the car was stopped.
The victim, who had blood on his face and left side of his head, told deputies that he was attacked by Harrison after a verbal dispute which started at the beach, according to the arrest report. The victim stated that Harrison threw a rock at him that struck him in the head behind the ear, and that he was then jumped by Harrison and Gonzales, according to the report.
Two independent witnesses told authorities that Harrison threw a rock and hit the victim in the head at the start of the fight, according to the arrest report.
